i find Shakespeare-didn't-write-Shakespeare theories slightly annoying cuz there's usually an element of snobbery in there - the suggestion being that Shakespeare wasn't high class enough to have written good plays with diverse references in them, so it must have been someone of higher social standing.
That the scripts we have were edited and may contain transcription errors or even ad libs, that i can believe.
Also wrt Brows Held High and R+J, he was specifically talking about fidelity to the script as written - they remove and recontextualize lines, but they don't change the wording (even when the result is silly, e.g. guns labelled "sword").

I think "John McCain of transphobia" might be the point at which the analogy falls apart though, since Obama beat him and then went on to make gender identity a protected category for federal employees and contractors

Handguns let you dual wield at the cost of accuracy, while two-handed generally have better stats but you can't do much besides shoot with it
