I'm of the opinion that SM3 was very flawed but ultimately a pretty okay movie. I thought Sandman's birthing sequence was at least very good, not as sure about the rest though. It's been a while.

I've heard bad things about them on the internet, but internet evidence is inadmissible in a court of Aliroz (at least, in cases involving religion), so although my brother says that Scientology is a scam, I reserve all judgement until I meet a scientologist in person.
It would be naive to claim that every scientologist is a bad person. i'm sure they're not.
Disregarding everything in the internet puts you at a disadvantage concerning powerful corporations with a hefty legal wing who exercise considerable control over offline information concerning their businesses, however.

It's not individual Scientologists so much as the Church of Scientology as an organization. There are rogue Scientologists who continue to believe who have said very negative things about the Church.
But yes, the Church of Scientology is essentially a cult that blackmailed and bullied its way into becoming a 'legtimate' religious body. At its base, a religion based on the writings of a slightly nutty sci-fi writer. But from there, they infiltrated the US government, threatened to assassinate people, attacked anyone who dares to criticize them with frivolous lawsuits, and various other terrible things. If you leave Scientology, you're basically blacklisted from the church and Scientology will go out of its way to make the rest of your life as unpleasant as possible.
