I know that churches tend to create a lot of good singers, many of whom decide to take their talents elsewhere. I wonder if any other institutions have a tendency to produce certain musicians.
Well, obviously, rural areas produce a lot of folk musicians, but something less obvious than that.

Both of these women got their start in Church singing.
Heh, I was a choir boy as a kid and ended up leaving the church choir to do it in school, so I guess I'm living proof of your hypothesis
I'd imagine that a fair amount of high school bands would make the musicians that would eventually end up in college bands, though that's a bit of a given

As do I. I'm just using it to mock the huge influx of novels like "The Hunger Games", "Divergent" and "Maze Runner".
I'm just imagining how my story will sound with the film trailer of it comes out:
"In a world not to dissimilar to ours, where overbreeding and huge populations are a big problem, one young girl must do the impossible... Absolutely fuck all because she doesn't give a shit."
She's a 5'0, 7 stone 18 year old living in a world where you get taken away from your family as soon as you're born and have to do a life-or-death test in order to get home.

By themselves... Meh.
Sweetcorn, on the other hand, I can eat straight from a tin.

Paul Jabara and Paul Shaffer did. Then Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Cher, and Barbara Streisand turned it down, and they got it.
Martha Wash of the Weather Girls also sang the most famous line this song.
You will notice the part of Martha Wash is played by a thin lady. She sued over that and being denied royalties and credit. She won too.

I can hardly believe it, can't you hardly believe it? It's weird. Almost like... like the impossible has happened.
