I haven't had any particularly bad experiences with Sonic, but I only go there like two or three times a year, so...
that reminds me: I can never listen to Jamie Woon's Night Air because i recognize exactly what sample pack one of the kick drum samples is from and it drives me NUTS
though knowing how to use both ends is strongly advised
but no like you don't understand
I don't really know how to explain it, like there's a lot of stuff in FL I've just never used, and I've been making music in the most inefficient, difficult way possible.
I think I just made a trap beat by accident? I'm both ecstatic and disappointed in myself for not looking at this earlier.

Since about December or so it's suddenly become really strange to try to go back into Audiotool and make stuff, probably because I really liked w/e and I'm scared to make something that I won't feel is a good follow-up.
I might end up switching DAWs for a third time or I might not, depending on how bad the block ends up being, but either way, it's probably going to be a sizable amount of time before I put stuff out regularly again.

I'd figure I'd switch either to FL or Ableton since I've dabbled with both, but I might consider Reason too because if I recall that one's the main inspiration for the interface AT uses.
Audiotool's more easily accessible and freely available than any of those are, though.

At least you didn't stop making a type of music for an entire year.

I learned that last year
I really like it so far.
it is way harder to look at your own work "objectively" as you have your own ideas already invested in it whether you realise or not
I recognize samples from certain packs all the time (Young Chop uses the exact same drumkit I've used on several songs) and it never bothers me.
it's sitting very dry and high in the mix and it's very distinctive and it just kills my immersion if that makes any sense
i wanna make music now but alas, no headphones

remember when I knew how to make that?
