I would have felt better about the body scanner thing had the officer not then demanded to pat down my right shoulder
I don't like being touched by strangers and I have no idea what it was the scanner saw >_<
honestly though i was expecting so much worse and all i had to do was put my stuff into a box that went through a conveyor belt thing that was pretty cool and walk through another cool thing so actually it was rather nifty, even the line was reasonably quick

The lines were reasonably quick for me too, which was impressive because, well, Chicago O'Hare at Christmastime, I expected a long wait, you know?
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Every girl has a secret in their pants and it is called their peepee. If they don't have one then they aren't really there because there are no (cis)girls on the internet or in real life.
This article kinda bugs me. Like, on one hand, yes, it's vitally important that the issue of suicide in the trans community be addressed, but on the other hand, it was written because people kept bringing up the suicides of transmen in discussions specifically about Leelah Alcorn, and people called them out for derailing from the original subject. I'll be honest here, it feels kinda like men trying to dominate the conversation again, whether intentionally or not.

Social Security cards have to be one of the dumbest things America does.
You're supposed to carry this card around with you your entire life, but it's made of paper flimsier than the average business card and you're not allowed to laminate it.
Was there a shortage of actual, you know, plastic cards at some point??

i, too, have felt loss
On one hand, I can't blame trans men for trying to wedge themselves into the conversation since they tend to get overlooked even in the trans community.
On the other hand, they definitely could've been more tactful about how they went upon doing that.
misogyny and violence against transwomen are both serious problems
however i feel that transmale privilege, insofar as it exists, is fairly insignificant and severely exaggerated on the internet, whereas cis privilege screws trans people of both genders over, so i don't see what's gained by telling transmen to stay out of conversations regarding trans suicides
Except transmen aren't being told to stay out of conversations regarding trans suicides. They're being asked not to go all "Hey guys, did you know that transmen commit suicide too?!" in discussions related to a very specific suicide by a transwoman. By comparison, it would be like me going into a conversation about Andi Woodhouse and saying "Hey, hey, transwomen die as well!" unprompted.
And let's be blunt here. There is a very real history in the trans community of transmen talking over transwomen and non-binary folks in shared spaces, be that discussion panels or whatever else.
(And of course, on the extreme end of the spectrum you have misogynistic assholes like Chaz Bono and Max Wolf Valerio, although somehow I doubt transmen want them as representations either)

this rather surprises me, as i almost never hear anything about transmen

i believe you but man, this is not what i've seen in my own experience. weird
Honestly, I think part of it may be because of that perceived invisibility. Statistics have the ratio at roughly 1:1, but there's so much focus on transwomen in the mainstream, it makes it seem more like 1000:0.

Be really really fucking careful when you say stuff like that about transmen. Because there is a a surprisingly large contingent of trans folk who seem to absolutely hate them. And I've seen the effects that shit has.
IRL I'm friends with two transmen. Transmen in the southern United States, who are also being shit on by people on Tumblr, which should by all means be something of a safe haven for all trans people. Three guesses for the kind of wondrous effects the latter part combined with the former has on their mental health. It ain't fucking pretty.

Who would be the title character in an episode called "Werewolves of Townsville", I wonder?
Also I'm sure it would include non-copyright-infringing knockoff of "Werewolves of London"
I dreamed of a circle I dreamed of a circle round and in that circle I had made were all the worlds unformed and unborn yet a volume, a sphere that was the earth that was the moon that did revolve around my room

my conclusion is ugh
those were phased out not too long ago, these days you're expected to just remember it

am i wrong?
so derailing a conversation about a specific suicide with an agenda
most likely a weird experiential fluke i guess
Sorry Fossilmaiden.
But i wonder if tumblr has skewed my perceptions of these things.
