Scooby-doo somehow became more iconic than a lot of the other cartoons of the era. Even for people who never really watched the show, it's become such a pop culture fixture, referenced all over the place.

I have qualms that Warner Bros. (the current owner of the Hanna-Barbera properties) hasn't given most of the other Hanna-Barbera properties the same chance to become permanent pop cultural mainstays, but I have tended to phrase them in a manner filled with mostly-insincere resentment towards Scooby-Doo

well, most is a bit strong with regards to H-B
I tend to mean what my mind considers the big ones: The Flintstones, the Huckleberry Hound/Quick Draw McGraw/Yogi Bear trifecta (though Hokey Wolf and Yakky Doodle are perhaps best left behind)
ok i didn't get any good pics but i wanna share with y'all the coolest bit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cy Twombly's recreation of The Iliad so here are some pics from places on the internet:
@Morven: Yeah, that's one way, but there's also the fact that it's a kind of private soapbox, public and insular at the same time. The openness that creates is a double-edged sword.

hot-blooded fanaticism aside, sometimes I feel weird for liking the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons as much as I do
a lot of people go "ALL THEY EVER MADE WAS SHIT" and I don't think they really have informed opinions on that, and I know that they're not things that a lot of people my age can be united by because either they didn't get Boomerang or the stuff simply didn't appeal to them

I suppose their appeal is very particular
I like the look of the cartoons (admittedly it is a bit tough to spend time away from them and then get used to the movement again), the background music, the voice acting, the fact that they employed Michael Maltese (much better known for creating the stories for Warner Bros. shorts like "Duck Amuck" and "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century")...I'm wondering if it's something most people now wouldn't "get"
the only thing I remember from the Philly Art Museum is the Tom Chimes exhibit, which is probably not there anymore
I remember that there was an armor exhibit the last time I was there, but I didn't get to go to it because I spent too long on the other exhibits. So furious.

Wow, I forgot how much I hate big airport security. Seriously, having a drug dog and having to go in that body scanner thing with my hands over my head just makes me feel like such a criminal when I haven't even done anything.
The person in the chair that's right behind me scratched their head, touching my head a little. Freaked me out. I don't know anyone here so I thought a total stranger was just creepily stroking my hair or something.
This article kinda bugs me. Like, on one hand, yes, it's vitally important that the issue of suicide in the trans community be addressed, but on the other hand, it was written because people kept bringing up the suicides of transmen in discussions specifically about Leelah Alcorn, and people called them out for derailing from the original subject. I'll be honest here, it feels kinda like men trying to dominate the conversation again, whether intentionally or not.
