today while talking with my mom I learned that some people pronounce "Xavier" as "ik-zay-vee-air"
I was incredulous to say the least
How else would you pronounce it?
I would say Eksayvee-err, because X is one of those consonants that shouldn't start words. Like ts, I can't pronounce that without a vowell before the t, or at least a vowell and a consonant, like Parts.
I've heard that x at the beginning at words is pronounced as " z", but I never remember that.
Like how "aa" is a vowell combination I cannot pronounce. It's one of those strange nonengliah vowells.

"hah-vee-air"
it's a spanish name.
?
I mean, I know that's how you pronounce Javier, but I always figured that Xavier had it's own little pronunciation thing going on.
The given name Xavier (/ˈzeɪvi.ər/, /ˈseɪvi.ər/; Catalan: [ʃəβiˈe, ʃəviˈe, ʃaβiˈe, ʃaviˈeɾ]; Galician: [ʃɐviˈɛɾ]; Portuguese: [ʃɐviˈɛɾ]; French: [ɡzavje]; Spanish: Javier [xaˈβjer]; Basque: Xabier [ʃaβiˈer])[1][2]
My understanding of pronunciation lingo is weak, but I'm pretty sure Wikipedia's agreeing with me.
Instead of expanding my borders by force, I've largely been trying to make my country more liberal, research new techs, and add more countries to my sphere of influence (which basically means I'm aggressively big-brothering them, a la what the United States did to half of South America in the cold war).
Dani Filth (a.k.a. Daniel Lloyd Davey) is the lead vocalist and songwriter of the British black metal band Cradle of Filth. The bands sounds consists of a mixture of extreme metal, elements of classical music with dark, intelligent and gothic poetic lyrics. Other bands include Temple of the Black Moon and Devilment.
I just said that my room is currently full of ham and cheese sandwiches. Which is an apt metaphor for listening to Dragonforce, but not actually a bad thing.
I am not sure what to think of this situation. They're a most minute minority right now, but they could become a true force to be reckoned with later on.
What do you think of me allowing my great nation of Brazil--world power, and undisputed as the Sovereign of South America--to become a hotbed for the festering Socialist movement?
is there anyway to ensure that it is integrated slowly and gently? You'd want to prevent conflict, and people really, really like to hold onto capitalism.
well. Despite the best efforts of reform-minded Emperors Luis I and Luis II, the poor are still oppressed by the capitalist pig-dogs, and ethnic minorities in the country still have very little representation.
it's as good a climate as any for Marxism. Especially in a world where Russia is actually fairly stable.

they have the vocalists from Dragonforce, Amaranthe AND DANI FILTH
it's like an un-supergroup
They are probably the metal band I am closest to liking.
