I actually can't think of more than like two white jazz artists.
One of whom is Kenny G.
I think hip-hop has remained a predominantly black artform at least in the United States (it's different in say, Germany, but there is the question of whether non-American hip-hop is actually hip-hop at all), but there is definitely more tolerance of white and generally non-black rappers in general than there used to be. Though not all kinds of non-black rappers, see the outpouring of outrage at PSY's mere existence.
Heck, people respect Mac Miller now (arguably with good reason but, I am not convinced, suffice it to say).
I think it's valid to be maybe concerned about that, but it can be hard to separate people who are concerned for the culture and have good intentions from people like Lord Jamar, who are just assholes in the guise of being concerned for the culture.
yeah the more i think about it the more skinny white europeans come to the fore
my thoughts were skewed by my listening to Benga's Diary Of An Afro Warrior a lot over the past few days (*dope album btw*) and also Goldie being the dude my mind automatically leaps to when i think "electronic musician"
Also you end up with weird race issues with people like Sparkmaster Tape, who records anonymously, and says things on his records that have a different context if we assume different sociological backgrounds (he also says things like "Sparkmaster Tape never gave a fuck about a bitch", but that's neither here nor there).
I can think of quite a few white jazz musicians. Peter Brotzmann, John Zorn, Mats Gustafsson, the dudes from Borbetomagus, Bill Frisell, Bill Laswell, Weasel Walter and all the weird and wonderful european free jazz folks im leaving out for brevity's sake
The jazz thing was more of a problem in, like, the 40s and 50s. Back when listening audiences were segregated in terms of marketing and 'race music' was a thing. It just happened to age in our favor. -shrugs-. I meant this bit in more of a grassroots level. Couple of white men jamming on the saxophone is less out of place than a bunch of black men in the viola section.
I'm not really concerned about hip-hop staying black. First off, it's not really my thing, in terms of black issues (see: police brutality). And, again, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that non-black people are getting into it. Hip-hop is mainstream now, for all audiences, and that's inevitably going to filter back into the creation of hip-hop. Can't shove that genie back into the bottle. Might as well make sure that people get as much good out of hip-hop as possible.

Fair enough.
I, again, don't know anything about jazz. Or any of the various classical musics, or really, anything that could be even remotely called "art music".

no but a lot of people are and I think it's valid.
Vaguely related to this entire discussion, I kinda cringe at the popular notion of Eminem being one of the best rappers ever. There are better candidates. Hell, there are better white candidates.
for your entertainment, here is the otherwise easy-going white jazz fusion guitarist Pat Metheny ripping into Kenny G with the force of a fucking typhoon

and Kenny G don't count because he's a scrub
Adding to that list: Bill Evans, Glenn Miller, Tommy Pederson, Nelson Riddle, Frank Sinatra, Gene Krupa, Tommy Dorsey, Bix Beiderbecke, Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin

Someone at church has one of his CDs, and it inevitably gets played as background music whenever we're having a church social. And then someone always goes 'hey, yarr, sounds like you don't it?', despite the fact that we don't even play the same saxophone. And that's on top of him being as entertaining as paint drying.
I'm saying that this guy grinds my nerves, that's what I'm saying.
Probably not going to finish the interview tonight though. Sleep's calling.

so it appears that a Denmark game in EU4 is now basically impossible, because it's no longer possible to annex Personal Union partners that are larger than you are
aaand, Denmark starts the game with personal unions over Sweden and Norway
both of which are considerably larger than Denmark, and are Denmark's only real chance of being a major player in the game.
I'm gonna keep playing in the hopes that the tooltip is just wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but it literally just says "(X) Not Possible to annex a Person Union partner larger than yourself"
I've actually talked about this at length on the EU4 subreddit (my reddit username is CasterMojave if you're interested in looking it up), but my thoughts on the matter is that EU4 is increasingly being made arbitrarily harder to please a small minority of players who feel that it should be very difficult bordering impossible to make anything ahistorical happen.
Another example is the change in how Westernizing (which allows non-Western nations, like say, India, or native american tribes, to eventually get access to western technology and more importantly, military units) works. You used to have to be 8 tech levels behind, and bordering a Western-teched country. This in of itself was already pretty dangerous. Now, that number scales with how far behind you start out, meaning that how well you actually do in the game has no bearing on how many tech groups behind you need to be.
Long story short, as a native american nation you now need to be 24 tech levels behind a neighboring western power, in a game where there are only 32 tech levels.
Guess I'm going to play Portugal for my colonization game and have the most boring, safe game imaginable, because things keep going to shit as Denmark in like the first ten minutes.
Note that the second track is significantly weirder overall, although if you can get past the unabashed freeform aggression of the first part, the back end of the track has some great low-key spooky sound manipulation.

Also he's just kind of an asshole. So's Action Bronson for that matter, on the white rapper subject.

Other than that I can't disagree with anything in that interview because I don't think I've ever heard a Kenny G record, nor do I really care to.

though I doubt it'd net me any real measure of respect.

and even if you convert a CK2 save, it's a lot harder to just play how you want to.
Incidentally, I will soon be conquering Finland.
I am playing as Harald The Fair in CK2.
which wouldn't be particularly surprising, but still
what is life
