it is amusing, out of all of the really fucked up real things from my childhood the only thing i can remember being really scared of was those trees....
Maybe it was because I was so young. Some Things that scare you when you're little never really go away, and if your only experience is through the eyes if an adult, you see it more clearly and not through the unstable hyperemotional eyes of little kids.
Also, OH GOSH NO DON'T TAKE MY HAT AWAY (-troubled egg position-)
Let's be fair though, those trees were being jerks.
The only traumatizing thing from my childhood was Ramses the Pharaoh from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Y'know, the horrific CGI monstrosity.
Ramses was traumatizing for a while, though I eventually got over my fear and that ended up being one of my favorite episodes. Always had a hard time with the episode where it had the zombie directors coming back to life and trying to eat Muriel. That and Hotel Katz, but that was purely because of the spiders.
The most traumatic thing from my childhood was the TV miniseries Shogun, which was based on the novel by James Clavell. It wasn't actually intended to be scary, but watching someone get their head cut off during the act of Seppuku when you're 3 is pretty traumatizing. Not sure if I'd call it a full on phobia, but I was scared of blood and gore for a long time, up until I was about 14. I'm still not very good with dealing with blood and gore, actually. It's part of the reason I can't watch slasher films (well, I'm not really a fan of that genre of films in general either).
Courage and Ed Edd n Eddy are timeless masterpieces that will never change.
It is also an unbreakable bond of friendship between me and Mo.
How is it that we've been best friends this whole time and I never knew you liked Ed, Edd, and Eddy? That show is almost Calvin And Hobbes level good (if it wasn't for the Kanker Sisters and Kevin and his dirtbag middle-name-revealing-self, and the show being sadistic to the Eds, it might get to Calvin And Hobbes levels)
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
The one thing from Courage that really scared me was the little girl who was sitting alone in a room and playing the violin. When she turns around her face is all freaky and there's screaming and stuff.
I didn't do well with jump scares as a kid. That image stuck with me for a long time.
I once thought I dreamt a series of games. Then Myr started reviewing them. Good old Myr, confirming the shadows of memory that lurk in my subconscious.

Also, Pajama Sam: No Need To Hide When It's Dark Outside. There's your hint, I don't wanna think about the çūštœmś trëęß any more.

You can't tell me that some of the stuff in that video is messed up.
David O'Reilly is wonderful. Occasionally quite demented, but wonderful nevertheless.
They still scare me. Very much.
Also, oh yes, I remember old Rameses from my nightmares. -shudder-
In other news, good night

MESURGAR.
I was gonna say that wasn't so bad, but then I got to the part with the mechanical spiders coming out of the deformed head. Yeesh.

I'm always very grateful when a Courage discussion pops up, just so that I know I didn't dream up the whole thing.
