I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
...what was it like when the Blue Jackets showed up?
I ask this because of a mindleap from how I can understand a major-league sports arena being in a conspicuous area (it kind of has to be, anyway, or there will be no spectators and less profit), but not a prison.

I don't really remember much about the Blue Jackets showing up. I was in elementary school and I was kind of oblivious to everything outside my imagination. More so than I am now, even.

Doing things with ABC Inc is frustrating.
Stupid nonexistent corporation, all it wants is profit and it isn't even real to begin with. If I want a design exercise then maybe I'll turn back into the maven 2009-self was and go devour blogs/forums related to it again for inspiration and fun.

ABC Inc is a love-hate thing for me and has been for at least a year now.
Though at least I am doing something with it now other than banging out nonsense about it on a message board.
You know for ages I have wanted to do something like an annual report for the company, but given that it is not publicly traded (initially, it was, on the NYSE under the symbol "ABCI", but I retconned this out after thinking it wouldn't make sense for them.) and doesn't exists, I figure I would have to make shit up or synthesize it from Disney's financial data.
Come to think of it, the streamlined nature of the company is probably a boon to them in the long run, as even though its primary medium is "dying", the company doesn't have to deal with the costs of running a whole bunch of things like a movie studio (it is very overt about its desire to merge with Lionsgate, which would probably quickly become a white elephant if not turned around) or print publishing assets (which are also experiencing a challenge to their domain, and probably don't make the BIG BUCKS that movies and TV do anyway.).

Out of curiosity, why "ABCI"? Was "ABC" already taken?

For some reason I decided to try and come up with different designs for this:

So a long time ago I was loopy and I decided that CA Marketplace needed to license the Tumblr name and apply it to a chain of grocery stores.
Then today I had far too much free time on my hands and decided to try and show what I imagine they'd look like on the inside.
I imagine this as the signage for the individual departments. The lighter blue is the shade of the wall, with the darker blue being a stripe that extends all the way around the store. The lettering and the images would be raised slightly:
I tried mocking up an aisle sign as well, but I'm not quite satisfied with it.

...weird, I never imagined a "Tumblr" store as being traditional at all.
I thought of it as a bunch of merchants at booths, and you could set up your own booth and re-sell items bought from other booths, maybe at adjusted prices.

GODDAMMIT I LIKE YOUR IDEA BETTER
Also I kinda want to design stuff for a regular CA Marketplace store now, but I don't have a "starting point" like I did with Tumblr (i.e., the website).

For some reason I always imagined the interior of a CA Marketplace store as looking somewhat dated, though that's more because I like the atmosphere of dated stores than because anything that actually makes sense from a retail standpoint.
Also I kinda want to redo the Tumblr one with AU's concept now. It strikes me as something like an indoor flea market, but intended to attract a more "upscale" customer base.
CA Marketplace probably looks like Disneyworld if Disneyworld was a grocery store.
Unrelated: it's pretty cool how I was about to dive headfirst into self-pity mode and then I was interrupted, mid-overdramatic-sigh, by a knock on my door. That's the kind of thing that should happen more often. Maybe I should set an alarm to go off twice an hour, like, "Hey, are you absorbed in angst? You are? Knock it off, lugnut." Though the fact that it came from the outside world makes it a little more meaningful, even if the meaning was just "look, a new refrigerator".
On this particular occasion, I blame Cities in Dust for making me more hardboiled.

Somehow I knew you'd ask that.
Drinking too much milk and eating Parmesan cheese and Splenda Brown Sugar Blend straight out of the packages, for one.

Inflicting pain on your stomach I see.
...you know, when I try to think of redone versions of the 1995 Buena Vista Television theme for the ABC Studios Distribution logo, my mind always skips the third note. Not even the Disney-ABC Domestic Television version of the jingle does that, and it's kind of watered down compared to both of its predecessors!

And now my stomach hurts and I feel like a bloody idiot

When told that starting a chain of Tumblr grocery stores was the dumbest thing ever, Avenue stomped around and threw pencils at us till we left his office.

Because of the wording, most likely.
...seriously, the fucking music in that logo has much more soul to it than the animation it accompanies. It feels somewhat like it's going through the motions.

I kinda miss Northland Mall now.
Weird, as the place has been gone nearly a decade now and I have only the vaguest memories of it when it was in operation.

Now I'm trying to think of what, if anything, notable happened in my life in 2002.
...I've got nothing.
Though I do believe that was the year I learned was transgenderism was. My first thought was "that's a thing? Yes, that means there's still hope for me!"

Yeah...
I wish I weren't as obsessed with the topic of gender as I am.

Targets seem even more "samey" to me than other chains. With other stores, even if most of them have the same decor inside, the layout of each store varies a bit. Not with Target, though--around here, at least, most of the active Target stores have the same layout inside, and those that don't have an exact mirror image of that layout.
If you've seen one Target, you really have seen them all.

One thing I find interesting about Target is that they're one of very few brands that can spam their logo all over everything and pull it off well. The bullseyes on the shopping carts, the neon half-bullseyes on the walls...hell, look at their standard shopping bag. Instead of saying "TARGET" anywhere on it, it's just got the bullseye over and over and over.
...Rats, eh? I suppose that's a possibility, if the building has been abandoned for a while.
