  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
I wonder if I could ever get into anorak mode.

I'm in "bored, lonely and want to go home" mode. Just two more discs to check, just two more discs...

And now there's an issue with the Windows 7 boot manager, so I can't do what I wanted to do (try and artificially limit the system memory). Waaaaaaitng for the DVD to burn now. :P

    Do problems there happen often?

    THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Oh, no, not often; I'm dicking around with my system settings to try and replicate an issue a customer was having. I couldn't replicate it, again, and they were able to find a workaround, so we'll deal with it later.

Now I'm uninstalling all the crap VS 2010 installed, so I can downgrade (I'm not going to the trouble of converting our build system to 2010 tonight!) and so there'll be no surprises when I go to build something tomorrow. Then I'm going home and sleeping. Hopefully Freezair will have written in by then, I've been oddly worried about her all day even though I know she's not in any trouble.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
What all did VS 2010 put on there?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I wanna yammer about things.

    So DO IT

    I'm here
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I find Spirit News comforting.

It's like stepping into the 1970s, man

(Incidentally, that decor is the style that originally went with the "Greenhouse" exterior, rather than the "Superstore" exterior, so this store was probably remodeled once...like 40 years ago.)
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Reminds me of Food Town in Monroe, Michigan

    What's Food Town like?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
It appears a bit less overtly-70s, though I vaguely remember it feeling like that.

For some reason one thing that pops out at me in that Kroger picture is the early-2000s aisle sign. I never did care for that style of sign, image--I much prefer the early-90s style, which I can't find a picture of but will link when I happen to stumble across one
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
It looks like it's trying too hard to look fancy.
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Kroger's current decor seems to be built entirely on "trying too hard to look fancy." Ugh.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Seconding the "Ugh."

The worst part? They seem to have retroactively plastered that look into almost all of the Kroger stores in Columbus.

And the few they haven't all seem to have the "Millennium" package.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
The "Millennium" package reminds me of a school textbook

...I can kinda see, that actually. Huh.

You know, I find it kinda funny that while Kroger has decided everything needs to be excessively "fancy", Meijer has settled on this look.

I want to go to the Wal-Mart in Aurora.

What's it like? Typical Wal-Mart fare?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    It's not a Supercenter.

    Oh, one of those.

I can't remember the last time I was in a non-Supercenter Wal-Mart. Honestly, I think it must have been the one on Morse Road before it was remodeled into a Supercenter...and that was at least 10 years ago.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I remember when the one in Commerce City was new.

Last time we were in there it reeked of piss.

Stores reeking of piss made my mind leap to the now-abandoned Meijer on Brice Road.

...It was in pretty poor shape toward the end of its life.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
This was in 2009. I don't know if it still does.

Smelly stores --> Meijer on Brice Road --> Brice Road --> nearby Gender Road --> Why the hell is it called that?

...Sorry, my mind went for a Wiki Walk there for a moment.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I always thought "Gender Road" was weird.

    Oh, gotcha.

Sometimes I wonder what the stories behind road names are.

I know a few of the weirder ones from Delaware County:
    • Africa Road was named such because it was originally used mainly by black people relocating from the south, in the Civil War era.
    • Lackey Old State Road was named when a portion of the Old State Road (one of Ohio's first highways) was re-routed onto an existing road called Lackey Road, when Alum Creek was dammed and the original route ended up underwater
    • 3 B's & K Road is named for the initials of the townships it passes through, though I can't name them off the top of my head.

I think I have a corporate crush on Kroger
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Mine on MGM seems to be waning.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Oh neat, I was complaining about OTC in a thread on YF and the entire derail got thumped. I guess I"m just not fucking allowed to talk about it, am I? :P
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Maybe not outside of PMs.

    THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
It just...I wish OTC would get its own site and let the TVT forums go back to being derpy. GMH did it for IJBM2, I don't see why the political arguments couldn't get shipped out as well.

I guess I'm just sick of the current state of US politics. Between the constant shitty threads on OTC about it, and the fact that WTOP is getting carpetbombed with right-leaning attack ads when it's not a major election year, I'm just overloaded with it.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I remember when they were derpy.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Me too. To be honest, most of YF still is pretty derpy. But it almost seems like it's overshadowed by how awful the left side can be at times.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I remember when the silliest memes were around. Like potholing to "People Die When They Are Killed".
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Hmm, I'm not sure I remember that one.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    This logo vaguely depresses me:

The only thing in there I can pick out that didn't come from UA, Orion, or isn't even owned by them is Thelma & Louise.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
It's funny; in my VHS set of When the Lion Roars, the little historical pamphlet that came with it also listed Thelma & Louise as an example of the "new" MGM. How the mighty have fallen, huh?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I haven't watched it, myself. I only looked it up because I vaguely remembered part of the title, and saw it on this.
  • I've been busy, how is everyone?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Fine.
