Trill like a Japanese delinquent trrrrying to make a point.
"Trill" is also a piece of Houston rap slang (that's Bun B from UGK).
    I know that.

    That's half the joke.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I was using "trill" in one way while acknowledging and playing off of the other definition.

  • I feel like shit.

I'm sick, I have a test this Thursday that I haven't studied for and the President said some stupid bullshit again.

This day couldn't have been worse.

  • My dreams exceed my real life
When the last vestiges of humanity are cutting their way through the slushy jungles of Antarctica, and I end up sharing a bonfire roasting a rattlesnake with Matt Parker and Trey Stone, I am going to 100% remind them of that episode they made where Al Gore was hunting Manbearpig

IJBM: the card readers at Family Dollar don't go beep-beep-beep when it's time to take your card out of the slot

The cashier has to tell you "go ahead and remove your card now"
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
our card readers don't beep either. They just say "remove card" which no one reads.

either that or they read "do not remove card" as "remove card" and pull out too soon (don't interpret that wrong)

Why did people make "Hahaa, gay people get to experience a shitty aspect of being straight" jokes when gay marriage became legal, but not when Don't Ask Don't Tell got repealed?

I really don't get the appeal of SSDs

Or rather, I don't get the appeal of SSDs yet

Once they're byte-for-byte just as cheap as platter drives, I'll be all in

But I have no desire to replace my 750 GB platter drive with an 120 GB SSD just for the speed improvements

I guess it makes sense if you're more interested in having a faster computer than being able to store loads of stuff on your computer but...that's not me

The ones at Family Dollar don't even say REMOVE CARD, they just say APPROVED

I guess the software developer assumes people will make the connection after seeing APPROVED and will think "oh, right, time to take my card out"

Spoiler: The software developer has overestimated their users
  • The card readers at work make a beep when it's time to insert your PIN, when the PIN has been accepted, when it's time to remove the card, and when it's time to print of a receipt from them.

No one has the chance to remove their card early because I take the card reader off them as soon as they've entered their PIN, and I take the card out for them.

Most stores I know of have the card reader fixed to the counter, so the cashier doesn't have that option

I'm sure they'd love it if they did though

in most respects they're also more durable and reliable than HDDs

  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
it depends on the rice and what it's been cooked with

if it's sticky, it's pretty easy to eat it with chopsticks

military humor is kinda taboo unless you're in the military.

Part of America's weird respect/fear complex with its own armed forces I guess idk.

the speed is so good though, it makes dual booting way more palatable

I'm pretty sure most people with an SSD also have a mechanical drive for general storage.
  • I'm thinking I'll upgrade to an SSD when I have Money™, but as it stands I'm too broke to justify such a purchase.

macOS seems built pretty much on the assumption that you're using one these days; my MacBook with an HDD is only a year or so old but it runs like it's been working since the introduction of its SKU (read: four years). Took me three minutes to open the iWork equivalent to Excel last week. Excel!

Your guess is as good as mine, AU.

I guess my birthday present this year'll probably end up being a (hopefully) more usable computer, depending on whether or not the parents'll be willing to slide me enough to get an SSD and/or some RAM. The biggest hurdle to that is just waiting a month...

I am generally satisfied with the speed of my computer

It's also three years old and I don't want to put any more money into it, but I'm open to the possibility of buying a new machine with an SSD when it's time to replace this one

buy new usb drive to use with lab scopes

lab scopes are old enough to not have a usb3 port

It was the kind of compromise that neither side was satisfied with

"Sellotape" still looks so weird to me

I wonder if British people think "Scotch tape" is a weird name
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Not really?  Just sounds like some other brand to me.

It's funny because the original use of "Scotch" there was derogatory, but they just took it and made it a brand name
