I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Like, the housing development I live in is on land that Denver annexed from Aurora for the purpose of DIA employees legally being considered employees of the city.
So after about 9 hours, I finally got through and was able to get my healthcare application set-up, but only to find out they extended the deadline by two days, which is honestly great, because there was something I misunderstood and need to change, but goddamn, this was excruciating.
Was sitting in bed reading when I heard a loud 'pop,' like a plastic bottle popping due to pressure. Turns out the glass jar of the candle I had lit broke due to the heat, since usually I just toss the match into the candle; this time it turned into a second wick too near the side of the jar.
I somehow slept through my alarm. Not it really matters, seeing as I have no lectures today. But I woke up and it was about 10:40am. My alarm was set for 9am.
Though I did find my phone on my bed instead of on my bedside table, suggesting that it went off, I switched it off and then went back to bed...
I'm in Starbucks, drinking a venti strawberries and cream frappachino, eating a three cheese toastie, listening to an obscure Icelandic folk band, wearing black skinny jeans, grey baggy jumper and black Converse.
Me over the past few days: frequent visitor to Starbucks, Grande Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino with soy and Java chips, probably listening to something like HEALTH or St. Vincent, blue skinny jeans, brown hoodie, black sneakers
The boo and I are probably closer to the hipster stereotype in some respects but we're both broke so that precludes the subtle veneer of privileged disconnection.
because the things that are stereotypically associated with hipsters are now mainstream and the people who were hipsters now run aesthetic blogs wear loose fit jeans and listen to fizzy things from weird japanese netlabels
I think the stereotype has moved on but there will always be novelty fetishists who dress in clothes just ahead of the latest trends and exude this vague disdain for those less in touch.
The irony is that real trendsetters tend to be people who simply do not care and cluster with likeminded trend-indifferent people who wind up doing stuff that other people think is cool. Not that it doesn't feel cool to be ahead of the curve when it comes around your way, but I don't think it works so well when you're conscious of it.

It rather startled me.
I see

Hmmm...
I'm a hipster.
Phew.
Not just me then.
