Whites, greys, browns, and a few light blues and off-greens are used to characterize the area. Rather than looking decayed like the rest of the Third Castle, its creepiness comes from how pristine it (still) looks -- fresh, yet frozen in time, as if a disaster had wiped out what life there was but left everything else untouched.
The area is home to few enemies. Gone are the flying, flaming, magic-spell-flinging books of the Large Library. Instead, the Laboratory Library (tentative name) features more impersonal obstacles, such books that form traps (rather than act as individual magical creatures), laser beams that have not yet been shut off, and deeper into its crevasses, it adds to the litany of strange -- possibly mutated or constructed -- creatures that are not native to any traditional myths or legends.
