I think it's because the lowered inhibitions that come with sleepiness negate my perfectionist procrastination tendencies. Or, I'm so tired that I'm not subconsciously freaking out at the thought of screwing up.

There are probably better prog vocalists, but Ian Anderson just injects so much heart and emotion into songs that it makes Yes or Genesis sound cold and aloof by comparison.
