I'm starting to think that the fact that "games journalism" is seen as a valid term at all (as opposed to games criticism, which is definitely a valid concept) says a lot about gaming culture.
After all, nobody within film culture would seriously claim that there is such a thing as "film journalism", although there certainly is film criticism. They don't need the sort of self-validation that the term "journalism" implies like gaming culture does."

I dunno man, I watched the sundance channel one day.

Good news: My copy of Phoebe and Her Unicorn arrived!
Bad news: Stupid UPS bent it all up in shipping :(
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Scott McCloud in his time suggested some things to make webcomics better (way before they got big), like using paywalls. Eventually he would be proven wrong about this as public opinion completely turned against paywalls. I forget what other bad ideas he had about webcomics.
However I think what he illustrates about emotion and action in comics, about how comics are read to be really spot-on. The man is nothing if not highly technically proficient.

matlab is basically the same thing as literary criticism

Caroline: Lindsay! What’s up, sister-of-mine?
Lindsay: Caroline? Wait, how did you get in here?
Caroline: Oh, is the library closed or something?
Lindsay: No, but I told security not to let—never mind. What is it you want?
Caroline: Oh, nothing really, I just thought I’d stop by and see how my favoritest sister is doing.
Lindsay: I’m your only sister, Caroline.
Caroline: I don’t see how that makes my statement any less true.
Lindsay: *sigh* I’m working, Caroline. Did you come here all the way from Queen City?
Caroline: Sure did! I took the last train to Colerain…and hey, that almost rhymes!
Lindsay: Indeed it does. You’re here ‘cause you want money, aren’t you?
Caroline: Of course not! I just thought we could hang out for a while, sister-to-sister.
Lindsay: So you decided to come interfere while you knew I was at work?
Caroline: Well, you wouldn’t answer my texts, so…
Lindsay: *sigh*
Caroline: So, since I’m not gonna make it back to Queen City for the night, can I crash at your place?
Lindsay: I live in a dorm, Caroline.
Caroline: So?
Lindsay: So no.
Caroline: Ah, right…ok then. Well, Colerain’s a big city. I’ll just find somewhere to hang out until morning…say, is this library open 24 hours?
Lindsay: Not to you.
Caroline: Oh. Ok, then. So, uh, wanna go out for coffee or something once you’re done working?
We’ve got a lot of catching-up to do, sister-style.
Lindsay: Please stop saying “sister”.
Caroline: Right. “Sibling” it is.
Lindsay: Whatever. I’ll meet you at The Late Night Bean at 11:30.

(Fifteen minutes later, at the library’s front desk.)
Lindsay: Jimmy, why did you let Caroline in here?
Jimmy: That was Caroline?
Lindsay: Please don’t say what I think you’re about to say.
Jimmy: I thought she was you.
Lindsay: Did you think I just went in the back room and changed my clothes for the hell of it?
Jimmy: I don’t know, I didn’t think about it!
Lindsay: I know you didn’t!
Jimmy: So would you rather I risk turning away our most valuable employee just because her identical twin happens to be an obnoxious freeloader?
Linday: If you ever see me come in here with grimy hair and stained t-shirt, feel free to turn me away.
Jimmy: Are you sure about that? I’ve seen you during finals week.
Lindsay: Not funny, Jimmy.
Jimmy: Look, I know you can’t stand your sister, but this isn’t the way to go about it. You just gotta be honest with her. You won’t always have campus security to fight your battles for you, you know?
Lindsay: I dunno, if I eventually get a tenure position…
Jimmy: Not the point, Lindsay. Look, just go out and have that coffee or whatever with your sister and face whatever issues you two have. At worst, you’ll have something new to gripe about when you get here tomorrow.

WORDS.”
...how many people who quote this actually have read "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream"?

To be completely honest... I have read dozens of Ellison stories, and I still haven't finished it. Although in terms of Ellison stories I need to finish, I give "The Deathbird" higher priority.
