I've tried to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics, but I can't take it. Too much to go all "oh my gosh, that ballet is wonderful, and that music!". It's like too much of something wonderful is almost painful, overload of art.
I know that these Olympics should be boycotted for Russia's inexcusable and frankly abhorrent treatment of her homosexual citizens, but I just love Russia's music and ballet and am glad for something celebrating that which is good of Russia. The good does not erase the bad in any way, and that homophobia and trams phobia has to stop, but I'd like to appreciate something beautiful without feeling guilty about how it means I am ignoring terrible things.
