"It is a matter of grave importance that Fairy tales should be respected.... Whosoever alters them to suit his own opinions, whatever they are, is guilty, to our thinking, of an act of presumption, and appropriates to himself what does not belong to him." -- Charles Dickens
I was flipping through channels, and the 1978 Superman was on one of our premiums.
Things taken away:
Lex Luthor and Otis pretty much are Pinky and the Brain. Well, okay, Gene Hackman doesn't sound that much like Orson Welles, but the mannerisms are nearly spot-on.
Superman is quite clearly a Hero of Time.
I had "ABC is the Place" in my head the whole time, due to Reasons (which I'll elaborate on more in the "old crap" thread). :P
Crimson sun upon wastes of yore, standing twixt the soul and door. And yet we laugh at the bloody son, laugh and laugh and laugh. Draining the timeless beast and its toothy grin as it dreads the closure of infinity. Masks hanging fretfully upon the wall, entrances to the realms yet unknown, all. He comes. He does truly come. He will arrive and he will call. Screams. They will happen when he comes. Devourer of time. Devourer of space. Devourer of crimson. He hates. No. No hate. He is unknown. Impossible. Unknowable. He'll laugh loud and grin truth. Out of signs out of lives. He'll consume that which cannot be consumed, drink that which cannot be drank. Chatulmargul. Laughter and sacrifice, horror and dreams. Tread lightly fellow or suffer his wrath and die not knowing your sin. Let him take you, assimilation. He is all and yet he is nothing. But why is he? When and what and who? Screams again. Always with the screams. He needs to be purified. Dangerous. Very dangerous indeed. He must be removed for the good of all others. But much too dangerous. We need someone fearless. As impossible as him. Fight beast with beast. Demon with demon. An ethereal. A presence not here. Undetected life. But maybe that's wrong too. Maybe he's the flow itself. Maybe he truly is immortal and endless. No. Unacceptable. Destroy. Must destroy. Otherwise all ends. Ending now. Unallowed. Whatever would they say if that happened. A god could stop him? No. A person? No. A spirit? Maybe. But where to find it? The moon? Ridiculous. The data streams infinite and screaming? Perhaps.
...Long story short, don't let Alice free write. Stuff apparently happens if you do.
