Allegedly, Touhou and other shmups are best played with a specific type of gamepad, but I don't know where you'd get one like that.

I think it has more to do with said controller's button setup.

If you could get in contact with Raydere he could probably help you with it, he knows more about shmups in general and Touhou in particular than I do.
