but I don't think there is reason to suppose they themselves are simply hateful people, or outright delusional.
It's not the individual's words that I'm so wary of, but the propensity of a larger group of people to take and run with them. That's whenever the real damage occurs.

Tumblr's not really that great about telling you when something is relogged a post if you didn't create it.
Unless you reblog from yourself, then it helpfully puts up a giant note on your post page like "Way to go loser, you're such a loser you had to reblog a post from yourself that someone ELSE made."
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I just wish the Tumblr app would properly support the Nexus 7. The version in the Google Play store says it's "not compatible with this device", but when I sideloaded the app from somewhere else on the internet it ran perfectly.
It's yet another one of those apps where the developers have included some kind of photo-taking functionality, and forgot to tell the app that it's okay if the device lacks a rear-facing camera, because y'know, the other stuff it does still works.

Fair enough, I suppose.
I guess it scarcely needs pointing out, but how that larger group of people takes and runs with said words, if it happens at all, is not necessarily predictable. I do think it's is worth keeping in mind that not everyone is going to treat the words of a random blogger as gospel; they might read critically, take what seems sensible and discard what doesn't.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
You're welcome. That's nice to hear. That it made you feel better, I mean, not that you have to get up early for work.

I thought about that...but wanting to do the best Yoruichi possible seems to be something else entirely than wanting to put on a misrepresentation of Uncle Tom's Cabin...
So ummm...I guess I'll check my whiteness and not assume...
Is it racist if someone darkens his or her skin for a cos-play?
Speaking as a black person, it can be done if you're tasteful about it. As long as you stay far, far away from any watermelon stands or anything, and stay away from traditional depictions of blackface, I probably wouldn't find it offensive. But I might. It's a very tenuous thing, considering the history and all.
Speaking as a person who knows tumblr, it's going to be really, really difficult to avoid controversy. And it's generally considered unusual to change your skintone for cosplay purposes (i.e. you don't see black cosplayers covering themselves in talcum powder and whatnot). And many people aren't as permissive as I am on the issue, which is understandable, considering that the whole 'replace a minority character with a white person' thing still exists. So...your best bet would be to just let your skin be your skin. People will be complaining that your skin color doesn't match Yoruicihi's, but that'll have to do.
Oh, good grief, why does every tumblrite with an opinion on blackface is either saying 'white people betta check themselves' or 'SJWs betta check themselves'?
who gives a shit about skin color, really, but as it turns out the entire world does
solution: keep fucking each other (which we do, we're good at that) until we're all the same shade
yes but that could never happen because the power division is too high and probably the only reason there are interracial couples is because of selling out and assimilation and furthermore

Re: darkening one's skin for cosplaying: I find it kinda tasteless, personally, but only if it's done deliberately.
During the summer I encountered some mildly amusing arguments about it. There would be a photo of a tanned white person cosplaying as, say, Avatar Korra, and one side would be all "She tanned her skin to cosplay! This is blackface!" and the other side would be "It's July, dumbass! She probably already had a tan!"
it seems to me that a lot of the arguments, controversy, drama, and justifications the otherkin have for or about their lifestyle seem identical to that of transfolk
