Yeah, if you like Japanese women and you're not Japanese yourself, you're better off going to the West Coast or Hawaii than you are anyplace else, as I understand it. Personally, I don't get why it has to be a Japanese woman, unless said weeaboo is imitating their racial politics as well. :P
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Reminds me of a YouTube comment I read recently. To paraphrase:
If you've never been a weeaboo before, it's like... you think Japan is some sort of holy land where everyone has a pet monster and a Gundam, "Romaji" is a viable form of written Japanese, and the chicks' skirts fly up like they're stalked by the rare, wild Windfans of Mt. Fuji that feed on awkward slow camera pans and nosebleeds.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Ahahahaha, romaji. It's actually more difficult to read romaji than it is normal written Japanese, since Japanese has a lot of homophones. (Chinese doesn't have this problem with pinyin, or at least it's not as bad, because of the tone marks.)

Chinese is much easier to learn than Japanese, especially for an english speaker.

Well it's not really a question of whether or not there are cute girls in Japan, it's more a question of whether or not they're interested in you (protip: they're not. Because you're not Japanese).

BUT I HAVE AN ENCYCLOPEDIC KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THEIR CARTOONS
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I actually have an old "learn Chinese" book at home (from the 1970s) and I've been meaning to read it, since I've always wanted to learn myself.

And what's worse about all this is that most of the really big weeaboos only know what they do about Japan from anime, which is rarefied and filtered the same way Hollywood films were in their Golden Age (and to some extent still are). You're not going to see the ugly parts of Japanese culture in most of their media because, from what I've seen, it's something they just don't like talking about, and even if they do talk about it, it's often in metaphor.

Think that's part of why anime doesn't really attract me.

Can't quite explain it, but I'd guess that it's a factor. Would explain why the only anime I ever finished was Paranoia Agent (which focuses on social analysis; has the same level of messed-up as NGE, but with urban fantasy/horror elements instead of sci-fi)

i only like anime for the porn

actually no the porn sucks for the most part
  • I like anime for the same reason I like anything else.

    Because it's good.

    Except when it's not.

In that case, I don't like it.

    Just like everything else.
  • i don't like animation for the most part.
  • We all dislike a lot of things, don't we?

Ah. (They've been using the "squish it, skew it and turn it all around" logo since 1999? Wow, I thought it'd been longer.)

My sister, who was born in 1999, had no familiarity with the previous logo, so she didn't realize that the current logo is meant to be a burger until I pointed it out to her.

  • I have a new favorite song/composition.

The fact that you have evening labs and still come home at around 9:30 most of the time is strange to me, probably because I'm used to labs being two to three hour things.
  • The lyrics have often been used as a metaphor for life's difficult choices, and many see the boat as referring to one's self or a group with which one identifies.[2] Rowing is a skillful, if tedious, practice that takes perfection but also directs the vessel.[3] When sung as a group, the act of rowing becomes a unifier, as oars should be in sync for the progression of a rowboat. The idea that human beings travel along a certain stream [time] and suggests boundaries in the path of choices and in free will.[4] The third line recommends that challenges should be greeted in stride while open to joy with a smile.[5] Some have questioned the song's implied necessity to row one's boat downstream. This may in fact be a commentary on the paradoxical nature of time's arrow with respect to man's free will in a universe of materialistic causality.[6] The final line, "life is but a dream", is perhaps the most meaningful. With a religious point of view, life and the physical plane may be regarded as having equivalent value as that of a dream, such that troubles are seen in the context of a lesser reality once one has awakened.[7]

wow, i had no idea row row row your boat was so deep.

People who sing the song off rhythm or out of tune represent constant attempts from Satan to lure others into sin.[8]

There's a dry-erase board outside of the classrooms on the first and second floors of my science building that no one ever uses. People always doodle on them too. The second one moreso, since it's the main floor of the biology department.

Someone also taped a bunch of pictures of the trollface in the men's bathrooms a few weeks ago. Why they did that, I have no clue.

Is the Once-ler fandom still a thing, or did that fall off the face of the earth after the movie left theaters?

I can kinda understand that. Lately, I've been missing the sense of excitement I had in the first half of my freshman year at college. I know it had its bad points -- I hadn't made many friends for the first month or so -- but now I don't seem to have the time, means, or motivation to do anything extra like visit a museum exhibit.
  • Simple contentment, the one thing I desire above all else, has been lost to me for so long that I have forgotten what it feels like. My mind is frayed, my attention shot.

I must find a way to escape this place.
