The light keeps turning green, but literally no movement is happening. No, wait, as I typed that the light turned green again and the bus moved forward several inches.

It'd have been funnier if saying that you'd rather stay in prison just ends in a "Game Over" screen.
Or a rock-breaking mini-game.
Also, I don't recall Rambo fighting a floating skull in the movie...maybe it's suppose to represent his past memories of fallen comrades haunting his psyche.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
squid you made me go look up the avgn episode about that game
I was actually four or five when I saw Rambo movies. Since then, I never saw one again. The only thing I can remember is a scene in which Rambo gets cut with a knife across his chest. If I remember correctly, I just thought that it looked ugly and had to be painful. Aside from that, I don't remember a thing.
Also, "knife" turned into "nice" while I was writing that.

Naney: Wavetables? -perks up- Are they the AWG-ish single-cycle things the PPG Wave used, or more familiar PCM samples?
Oh, okay, it's sort of a combination of what the Wave was doing and what later things like the Korg WaveStation did -- cross-fading between different PCM samples because you can (the Wave did it the way it did because memory was not cheap in 1982).
Yeah. (*PPG Wave was the first Wavetable synth IIRC*)
It used to be used mainly for synthesizing real instruments without taking up lots of memory, but by modulating the wavetable position you can use it for cool synth effects (*For example, cycling through various formants to create talking basses*). (*However, the various patches will all sound rather similar*)
Nowadays with more memory available multisampling the real thing is the way to go if you want the sound of real instruments.
Naney: Yeah, it was meant to be a cheap way to implement additive synthesis (the idea being not to emulate the original additive synth -- the pipe organ -- but to apply really simple, LPC-10-ish lossy compression to real samples; the Fairlight and the Wave Term could even do the processing for you, but most people used both of those for plain old sampling), but people figured out that digital synths were really good at sounding weird pretty fast, and the DX7, which sounded a lot like a PPG but was way cheaper and 100% digital, pretty much blew that wide open.
I know I like crispy old FM and AWG leads a lot; it's the main reason I like the Genesis-era Sonic soundtracks so much.
As for multisampling, I think the first consumer-level sampler to even bother with that was the AWE32 back in the 1990s; I know SoundFont itself supports it, anyway.
Indeed. With even the free stuff today, you can have a whole rack full of DSP effects most people would have killed to have 20 years ago, and have it all MIDIed together if you want!
Trying to do that back in the 1980s would have given even Rick Wakeman or Stevie Wonder (people with lots and lots of weird-ass gear) a panic attack.

Good thing it has air conditioning, at least.

It's not so bad, since I actually like it.

However, too many of them gets monotonous.

80s sci-fi/fantasy movies in general are my kinda thing, for some reason.
