Yes, it's just so SO awesome, for all the reasons you pointed out. I actually had this discussion last night with Justice, she's defo going in my Angel deck.
So, Krenko's probably going to be a major figure in Return to Ravincia.
Interesting. Nice to see a goblin in a leading role.
^ Slightly isn't the right word here. The +2 ability alone is strictly better than the two planeswalkers that deal with card-drawing and direct damage (Jace and Chandra, respectively). The rest are simply broken.
I don't think Krenko will appear in RTR, but I think he's gonna be referenced in flavour text at least.
Ghostway + Worldfire = profit
Also Athene Numan's Ultimate wording should be "Athene Numan's deals 3 damage to all creatures target opponent controls. Gain control of all creatures that player controls" /Pedantic Juan
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Now that I have Cockatrice, I kind of want to make decks in it. I have several ideas for decks swimming around in my head, but the one that stands out the most is a GU deck involving River Boa. I'm starting to wonder what kinds of cards to put in it.
In terms of creatures, Snakes are appealing, but I'd like a little variety as well. I'm also wondering what kind of Enchantment/Instant/etc. cards are best suited for this kind of deck. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I've liked all three versions of Liliana. I might switch out the original for this one in my Geth deck though, because that thing always, always wants more mana.
The thing that appeals to me the most is the repetitive land-tutoring. Black has never been particularly good with permanent mana-ramp (as opposed to temporary mana-ramp, like Dark Ritual), and I've lost a number of EDH games because I couldn't get enough black mana to play my game-enders.
I don't usually bother with discarding effects, so the other Liliana's haven't appealed to me as much.
I think the Liliana of the Veil is very mana efficient but yes indeed, the new Liliana's swamp tutoring ability is just so great and very unique to her within black that she's indeed far better than her predecessors.
I also think the card's art balances out Liliana's beauty and her potential threat.
I know that I've complained about how all planeswalkers (except Tibalt) are either muscled and sculpted (literally, in Koth's case), or really, really pretty. I'll admit that the original Liliana Vess wasn't either of those -- she was beautiful, but in a creepy sort of way. I don't count that as being 'not pretty' because I don't think that art was true to the character. Vess is an incredibly old planeswalker with unimaginable power, but she's supposed to appear as a charming young sorceress of 20.

And it's not even as if you needed Vesuva and Deserted Temple, unless you're really getting screwed in terms of land or something
But anyway, what I'm saying is that there's quite a bit of black ramp out there. Altar of Shadows, Black Market, Bog Witch (Which is really good in reanimator) and Witch Engine (Plus Homeward Path, of course)
And Magus of the Coffers who has an in-built Cabal Coffers on a stick. But I think the point everyone is trying to make is that being able to tutor land in black is virtually unheard of.

Except for Bog Witch, none of those are really practical outside EDH. I wouldn't even say Altar of Shadows or Witch Engine are that practical in EDH, as ramp at least. Liliana is just sexy in EDH or Standard (or Limited of course, but, planeswalkers, they always are).

Black Market's really sexy in sacrifice decks. Altar of Shadows' good in esper artifact decks and Witch Engine is pretty sweet in monoblack (provided you have a way to sac it or recover it beforehand,. which is not hard, considering you're playing, well, black)
I'm not saying that the new Liliana's lame or anything but that black has plenty of ramp that can be used and abused in EDH consistently, which is what Yarrun seemed to be talking about, after all.
I managed to get Dominus of Fealty and Wurmcoil Engine on the field at the same time, and he managed to steal them both at the beginning of his next turn.
There's a certain je-ne-sai-quoi about getting beat by Haven that my opponent happened to mimic perfectly.
I am very happy with Wizards. They seem to be awares that I play a Rafiq EDH and have thus decided to print the following: ... FUCK YEAH
Also, does anyone know the order in which things are swept? I had a Sterling Grove on the board and Justice Nevinyral'd the board. He blew up my Sterling Grove than all my other Enchantments. Can this happen? HOW? WHY???
But what about the order of said flipping-the-table sweepers??? If Sterling Grove gives shroud to your other enchantments can it just be picked off first and then all the other enchantments follow in its absence?

I was turned into a Magic card the other day by a friend.
I think I'm slightly broken.

One day, they'll make a goblin planeswalker. One day.

Not quite as lulzy as Master Warcraft, but still pretty fantastic. Might just be my next general.

For one thing, this is the first Liliana card-art that I actually like.

Staff of Nin
: Staff of Nin deals 1 damage to target creature or player.

Also, that made me smile yarrun. I like that I have my own flavor of winning at Magic.
