because it looks really smug which doesn't help
and it's kind of hard to 'take back' smugness

honestly i don't really like the flower but whatever you prefer is fine
i only ever see it used in smug contexts, so i got to thinking of the flower as the cherry of smugness on the smugness cake
maybe if i'd seen it next to things that were actually cute i'd like it better
i guess that calls to mind a problem with emoticons though, very often they're superfluous; if a statement is already cute sticking a little flower by it doesn't add a whole lot
and as cute isn't an emotion it doesn't really clarify anything about what's being said, it just clarifies that the speaker is cute, which is a matter of opinion
