OUR CLAN'S TOTAL COMPILED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DRAGONS: Dragons are weird. Some dragons are dreams of other dragons. There are Dragonewts, who are either dead dragons or larval dragons, we don't know. Possibly both. You can make some sweet armor out of dead Dragonewt bodies, but sometimes the Dragonewt comes back and asks for his old body.
Some believe Dragons and Dragonewts follow a deep reason humans can't hope to understand. Others say Dragons are like dogs, and just sort of do things arbitrarily.
We are DRAGON FRIENDS, we are stalwart supports of the strange and beautiful beasts known as-
Oh.
The Pharaoh AKA Belintar was a strange man who showed up in a place now called the Holy Country many years ago. He first established his position by killing The Only Old One, a benevolent old demi-god Troll who used to look after the place. Then he got himself made year-king. The Year-king would rule for a year, then be killed to ensure good crop harvests. All this happened on schedule, but then Belintar came back in a different body the next day. Now locals compete to see who's allowed to be possessed by Belintar for a year and then die. They're weird. The Pharaoh is weird, and powerful. We don't like him, and want to avoid him.
Okay so the structure of King of Dragon Pass is a mix of a sim game and a choose your own adventure game. I'll handle the day to day tasks as far as running the tribe goes, and you guys will vote on major plans, and the various events that come up. I'll tell you what I did between events and give status reports on anything you want me to.
In the meantime, let me explain the season system first. There are five seasons in KODP, corresponding to the five elements.
In Sea Season it's rainy, we plant our crops. This is a good time to go exploring, but a bad time to launch a raid, both because Ernalda won't like it and we need all hands on deck to handle the planting to get the most out of our crops.
In Fire Season, it's dry, and hot and there's not much to do. This is the time for raids, and we can expect to be raided during this season.
In Earth Season, we harvest our crops. We hold feasts, make trades, and celebrate the harvest at home, but much like Sea Season, raiding during this time is a bad idea.
In Dark Season, when it's cold and snowy. we mostly just keep to our Tula and do whatever odd tasks we can until the end of Dark Season.
Storm Season is unpredictable. One day it's as cold as Dark Season, another it's as hot as fire season. This is the sacred time of Orlanth, and raiding is not uncommon.
Finally there are two weeks known as Sacred Time. During Sacred Time, we perform rituals, and allocate our magic for the coming year.
This is the Sacred Time screen. I ended up putting points into Crops, Trade, War, and Mysteries. It's good to leave some magic points lying around, because it passively increases your luck.
The first thing you want to do when you start KODP is rearrange your clan ring. Unfortunately, doing this passes time and caused an event to happen, so we won't see all the clan management screens until we resolve this event.
In the meantime, let's meet our clan ring and hear what they have to say about this event. From the left to the fight, it's:
Argrand, an Elmali, our Chieftain. He is not particularly good at anything, but as our best Elmali, he needs to be clan leader. He says "Our magic is strong. The spirits of our ancestors will speak clear and true." He recommends a divination.
Korlmar is our Issaries follower. His job is to sell and buy things for us. He is one of our best speakers when bargaining. He says "It is hard to separate gossip from truth when talking to witnesses". He recommends conducting a divination or outlawing them.
Arnbord is an Uroxi, and our warleader. He says "Errath, the Tragic King, judged adulterers innocent. The next day his newborn child was killed by a stray arrow". He's not offering any particular option as best, though.
Perandal is our Lhankor Mhy Lawspeaker. He lets us know what we can, and can't get away with and is one of our best speakers when speaking on custom. He says "Allow me to interrogate them. If they are guilty, I will ferret out their lies. If they speak truth, I shall prove them blameless"
Ernaldess is our Ernalda follower, true to her name. She says Urenstand is guilty. Not one to mince words, is our Ernaldess. She wants to outlaw them.
Aski is our follower of Barntar, the god of plowmen. He says "I don't think I could tell a lie from an honest profession of truth" He recommends conducting a divination or asking their kinfolk.
Orglandi is our Eurmali trickster. He will be our Loki for the duration of his life. He says "Outlaw them."
Not sure if what the divination said directly relates to adultery, but if they're going to be hit by spirits of reprisal, we don't want them to be anywhere near our clan.
This is the clan screen. It tells us how our clan is doing
There are always a few sick people, so we shouldn't worry about it unless it becomes too bad.
Our farming screen! We can slaughter cattle or horses if our food situation gets bad.
Our magic screen! This is where we can sacrifice to learn mysteries and rituals to improve our tribe for a limited time, and build shrines to various Gods. Right now we have a Temple to Elmal, providing us with the Sun blessing which helps our crops, and the Steadfast blessing which improves our defense when attacked. We also have a shrine to Ernalda giving us the Bless Crops blessing, which improves our harvest.
Usually I start sacrificing early on to get good blessings, and get up a shrine to Issaries to help our trade. Because Sunn suggested, it, I think I'll also sacrifice to Maran Gor and learn her blessing.
Our relations screen! Tribes who like us are more blue, tribes who don't are more red. We are feuding with two clans and allied with two clans.
The trading screen! We have a market that brings in goods from our neighbors that goes out annually. Goods are stuff like silver, earthware, or even iron. 1 unit of goods is worth 1 cow. Goods are for trading, sacrificing, or giving to our populace to make them happier.
The war screen! Here we can launch raids or build fortifications.
The map screen! From here we can go exploring.
So heap, here's some stuff I wanna get done
This fire season, I want to build a watch tower, and get more weaponthanes to defend us.
This Earth Season, I'll be sacrificing to the Gods to get more blessings, and sending out caravans to get another trading route going.
This Dark Season, I'll probably still be sacrificing.
This Storm Season I'll try sending out another caravan.
Anything in particular you want to try, know if we can do?

im thinking cheeky cattle raids would be cool and good
also i dont think it was me who suggested sacrificing to whoever but i will gladly take the credit for any benefits this gives us
we should fortify more, i think
how do we form alliances? will trading with neighbours help, or is it all marriages and treaties?
