Wearing clothes not tailor made is only all that bad when it's something like a suit, a jacket, slacks, etc. Otherwise, not that big a deal. He is literally the worst person to take fashion advice from.

^Kind of the same thing, at least to me. But, yeah, just try not to think of it too much.

I doubt any of this was taken into account when they started making fun of how he dressed. BTL has a habit of dredging up absolutely everything they can find, and that wasn't mentioned. If it could've been, it would've been.

Honestly I think the thing that really turned me off to BTL was either that or the time Loid posted a PM he got from a newbie. The PM itself was pretty innocuous, mostly complaining about parents. Which every teenager has done at some point. He was of course, mocked, this is a bunch of goon wannabes we're talking about after all.

It's worse than SA, honestly. Because at least SA isn't ALL like that, just part of their site (yes, shockingly, I don't hate every Goon ever with a passion.)

I have never worn anything tailor made and didn't realise it was an issue.

I mostly just wear jeans/tshirts/hoodies anyway, unless I'm at like a wedding or a funeral or a party where other people dressed up.

Having poked around BTL, it doesn't seem like that bad a place. It seems like most people there are against poking fun at superficial things like clothing, and are more interested in deeper criticisms.

I could be wrong though. Maybe it's like Animal Crossing and I haven't investigated enough to see what it's really like, though.

I'm registered there, and don't really participate much, as "fixing the wiki" has never really been something I'm interested in (wanting Troper Tales fixed/gone aside) and their problems with the forum usually have to do with OTC, a section I have never really had much of an interest in.

I guess because I used to think of the TV Tropes forum threads as a fairly close social gathering, rather than a public thing.

I don't think it's voyeuristic per se, but it is more than a little odd obsessively digging up every scrap of information you can on a person just to criticize them as is, but it's doubly so if they're never going to see it. Which most of the people discussed in BTL (especially Chagen) aren't.

That's why I think it a catharsis rather than a genuine attempt to fix anything.

It's not that bad, and it's steadily improving as time goes by. It used to be your usual TvT refugees haven (Tee hee) full of butthurt individuals, but they started to, you know, get their shit together.

With that said, it's not like membership is a must or anything. Only if you're really interested in discussing TvT shit, I suppose.
