I'm more or less opposed to the idea that the most important part of defining gender is what the individual claims to identify as. It's a convenient shortcut and makes allowances for people who make an effort to establish their social role differently or have psychological issues dealing with the sex of their bodies, but gender is a complicated thing. Unless your sex is difficult to identify visually to the people you interact with socially, you're bound to be influenced in subtle ways throughout your life by the way people interact differently in response to that input. And of course, there's the stimulus that results from inhabiting a body of that sex 24/7. I think that some people tend to simplify the sociological aspect of it. They just become aware of gender stereotypes and that sex and gender are two different things, and go on to conclude that their gender isn't their sex because they don't or don't want to fit those social roles that we've associated with that gender.
Frankly, I think it's a little sexist to think that personality traits need to be gendered. You can argue compellingly for tendencies for personality traits to exist for one sex/gender in greater numbers. But I doubt that there's a single psychological characteristic that exists in many members of one sex but in no member of the other.
This is probably still more controversial, but I still think it's more appropriate to refer to sex with pronouns more than gender. We don't bat an eye at referring to animals and people we don't know with those pronouns on the basis of sex. And it simply carries less information to, say, refer to a male-to-female transsexual person who may by all appearances be female. It leads to some unsatisfying ambiguity to refuse to refer to some performer as anything other than a woman. Though as with all things, I'm not saying it isn't important to be diplomatic if they happen to be present, or politically correct if it's a publication. It might be inaccurate to refer to a rap artist as a doctor, but if it really leads to hard feelings if you refuse to call them that it can make sense to oblige.
So yes. I'm male. I won't elaborate on that information as I expect it to be obvious.

Well if I'm the princess, AU is the prince, obviously. Though at least one of his usernames suggests he's a king, so maybe I'm a queen? This monarchy is confusing.
Oh, right, topic. Yeah, basically I don't see anything wrong with listing people's sexual orientations as long as they're okay with being listed. Pretty much the same as how you've been doing the gender thing all along.
