You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
From the "bizarre coincidences" department:
The cover on the left was the planned cover for an album set to be released in September 2001.
Once certain events transpired, they delayed the album until November and it was eventually released with the cover on the right.
I just finished listening to Wabi-Sabi by Cross Record.
It's a pretty cool-sounding descendant of Mazzy Star, for whoever likes them. I'm not sure how often I'll come back to it myself, but I think I'll keep it in the collection.
Sredni might be interested to know that the guy who is the drummer on the new Swans records is the drummer on this, and brings his unique touch to the proceedings.
In other news, I don't think people here are particularly enthused about Kendrick Lamar, but he has a new album out and I'll have to give it a listen soon.
continuing off the M5 discussion: I like their IWBSBL-sounding stuff, but Overexposed is just generic pop trash to me, with some exceptions. Their new album is just OK, but at least it's not as bad.
I really can't shake the feeling that Adam Levine is kind of a douchebag, though. Although at least he's got compassion for gay teens (probably because his brother's gay).
"Overrated" is an overused descriptor. Insofar as I can tell, the man isn't a living revolution or anything, but he's remarkably consistent and whip-smart, so seeing him get called GOAT or whatever may be hyperbolic but it's not in any way incomprehensible.
I know "Alright", at least, had a lot of sociopolitical importance among certain demographics; so I can even understand people calling him a living revolution or whatever, even if I don't quite agree.
He has clout and the stuff he's saying is important and how he's saying it is also important. Doesn't make him the Messiah but, hell, part of his message is he's not the Messiah and treating anyone like they are that even if they are your role model is just another way of getting yourself set up.
On a side note, I'd recommend getting the Picture Disc Mix of Jesu, either by itself or in tandem with the official mix. It makes it sound a lot like the rest of Jesu's discography, which for me is a good thing.
Their EPs are well worth getting, too, for those that just have the albums.
I never disliked "Call Me Maybe", so the idea of Carly Rae Jepsen turning out to be A Genuinely Good Pop Musician neither surprises nor bothers me.
On a much weirder note, Disturbed have returned to the pop charts. With a symphonic metal cover of "The Sound of Silence". This is, in fact, a thing that has happened.
while i was not paying attention last year Joseph Fraioli aka Datach'i teamed up with the guitarist from Interpol to form a band called Big Noble and they put out an album

That was better than I was expecting it to be. Which is admittedly not a high bar but it could have been a lot worse.
he's a rapper/producer and sometimes singer with a flare for cool sound design
Revengance is... hit-and-miss but fun, it focuses mostly on him singing and has this kinda deliberately bland pop music pastiche through a weird lens thing going on
so far (im about 2/3rds of my first listen through) Mobis is a lot more interesting, it has a very cinematic, over-the-top cyberpunk quality with plenty of unorthodox touches while still remaining diverse. The vocal performance is less memorable and largely exists to compliment the production, but it has some fun moments.

Oh well, you have it now.
He's overrated, of course, but anyone with that much hype would be, and he's still really good regardless.

Almost.
