Huh, I thought I had some post-remodel pictures of that Gahanna Kroger around here somewhere, but I guess I just showed them to AU privately and never uploaded them anywhere.
Not that you're missing much; it's the same 2012 livery AU and I have posted numerous times before. If you've seen one 2012 Kroger you've seen them all.

A few shots of the Michaels at Easton Market from today, 30th November:

You should totally submit that aisle sign to Bodega Sans Boulevard...
On Thursday, December 26, 2013, I went shopping. But first, here are some pictures from within Denver's city limits (if the pictures take longer than usual to load, that's because I've turned on the high-quality upload option):

I love how every store that's closing seems to use that same "STORE CLOSING" signage with Antique Olive throughout.
I think it's pretty cool how, to people like you and me, a simple thing like a specialty grocery store can instead turn into a grand showcase of all different varieties of typography and graphic design!

It is pretty cool, yeah.
Also, I admit, as beloved as it is in the type world, I tend to associate Antique Olive with chintziness...
Duplicate Sans is based on it, and it says in its description that Antique Olive is associated with France. It is French, but that's not what it makes me think of...

Ah, so I'm not the only one who tends to associate Antique Olive with chintziness
I think things like cheap store closing signage somehow manage to fly under the radar even of designer types
I used to associate Antique Olive with the welfare food we'd get from LDS Family Services (Deseret), since all of their products used it on the packaging for years. Also, I seem to remember older Walmarts using it.
Not just the logo, but in-store signage and such. I remember seeing it in older stores, like the one in Christiansburg, VA that I frequented when I was at Tech. Also, older Stop & Shops used it and Americana for signage...I know that because when the Maplewood Plaza Giant was renovated sometime in the 2000s, they used the S&S decor instead of the last Giant of Landover scheme.

from left to right, K6 types C, A and B (note the differing crowns, indicating that the K6B is the most recent of the three and was made at some point after 1953)

Aw man, Tachyon, that was awesome. It was like a little mini-tour of Stroud!
You know, as much as I pride myself on being observant, I would have never worked out that the crowns on the phone kiosks correspond to the different monarchs...

Also, seeing pictures of Tachyon's bedroom inspired me to post some of my own dorkiness.
(Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures; the lighting in this basement sucks and I couldn't be bothered to fiddle with my "real" camera instead of my phone)

So they are. Don't know how I didn't notice that myself.
@ Anonus: that's the standard font used on all Royal Mail notices... i never knew that was what it was called before now!
@ Imipolex G: yep. i was a big Zelda geek when i painted it (those are very old photos of my room, but it hasn't changed much since i left for uni besides accumulating more clutter)

Tachyon your collection of books puts mine to shame
Even counting the many Gutenberg ebooks on my Kindle :P

This should probably go in the Central Avenue's Road and Sign Babbling thread, but I wanted to bump this one because it's one of my favorites. :P
Here are some photos of the ongoing reconstruction of the (northern) interchange of I-270 and US 23:
As an aside: you may notice an abundance of the number 23 in these photos. In a bizarre coincidence, the interchange of US 23 and I-270 happens to fall near, yep, milepost 23 of both highways. Normally, the onramps from US 23 wouldn't even have an exit number, but I suspect someone at ODOT couldn't resist drawing attention to the amusing coincidence.

More traffic stuff!
Some new signals at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Grove Street:
A closer view of the intersection. Overhead signage for the onramp, temporary signals on span wires, and new permanent signals on the mast arms waiting to be put in service. Also a relatively new Columbus police car.
Something strange: the permanent signals for the ramp are much farther from the stop bar than the temporary ones. I didn't manage to get them both in one shot (since that would require walking up the ramp and I didn't want to do that with a police officer right there), but you can see the temporary signals in this photo and the permanent ones in this photo. Hopefully that gives you an idea of the distance between the two...

I like that neon signage!
Also, AU, what did you think of my previous set of photos?

The building in the first photo is one of Columbus State's administrative buildings (at least, I don't think there are any classrooms in that one). The ones in the fifth photo are, from left to right, the Columbus State Bookstore, the Center for Workforce Development (a goofy name for one of Columbus State's academic buildings), and the other side of the administrative building in the first photo.
The older industrial-looking building you can see beyond the freeway in some photos is (I think) Kroger's Columbus bakery.
I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that when the temporary signals come down the City of Columbus or their contractors will put them back in stock to be used elsewhere. There's always some roadworks project going on...
As for waterproofing: the signals have gaskets around the door and around the lens to form a (mostly) watertight seal. Nowadays they're almost always rubber, but back in the day they were made of rope.

I love how that wasn't sarcasm but would look like it out of context
There was also Marvel stuff at the Disney Store, but no pictures of that...or of the Lotso plushies that exist for whatever reason.
One thing I was surprised to see was Stitch plushies. I thought they had quit caring about Lilo & Stitch...they did play "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" as well.

@ Central Avenue: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Your room looks cool. Love the street sign!
my room this year is HUGE!
so much space
haven't yet figured the best place to put the suitcase since i got back
mah desk
close ups of books: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (i haven't read them all yet)
the Stroud Blockbuster finally closed
Merrywalks entrance (different from the one i posted before)
some shots of the Christmas decorations in Merrywalks
a Christmas tree
the stars on the tree had Christmas wishes for absent/departed relatives: close ups

inside the bowling alley
place has seen better days but they made an effort to look festive
some arcade machines
they don't even look after your shoes anymore, presumably because nobody would want to run off with these
looking towards the bar area
the alley itself... my friend spent ages trying to get the sides to go down using the controls, then asked one of the staff, who just kicked them over
the bar, looking Christmassy
it is impressive
I would like to add it to my own
though i must confess not all of them are mine... some are borrowed, either from the university library or from other people
