Luckily I briefly trained summoning magic when I knew (but never got to cast) Spellforged Servitor, so these spells will be somewhat simpler to cast when I learn them.
Also found a book of the dead. Not interested in most of its spells but Dispel Undead seems like it might be a good pickup.
Whelp, got mobbed by a Tentacle whatever on Swamp 5, teleported away, and was pecked to death by ravens.

Octopode Assassin works surprisingly well. The natural AC bonus is basically the same as wearing a robe, and that +40 to stealth can do wonders.
Mummy Necromancer's not bad until you start fighting negative-resistant enemies. Control Undead can only get you so far. Luckily, the RNG's being good today. I found an Int-boosting art-armor and this atrociously overpowered mace", so I'll get by.
The problem with MuNe is that you're still a Mummy.
The restrictions aren't so bad, for the most part. As long as you can keep a steady stream of cannon fodder on you, the poor health and lack of quaffing is ameliorated, and as long as you have Sif's Channeling and a steady stream of corpses, cannon fodder isn't a problem.
Anyways, I ended up getting killed by a horde of bees, so I guess I'm shelving Akhenaten for now. Still, he got to sixth place, so I'm not complaining.
Meant to say that, actually. I found two extra spellbooks, but I could barely use any of the spells because I couldn't level up fast enough. I guess I got distracted by thinking about the horde of bees.
So hey, what's the consensus (if any) on whether to take a better grade weapon with no enchantment or a worse grade weapon with an enchantment? Currently having to pick between a regular war axe and a flaming hand axe.
I'm having a really strange run. Vine Stalker assassin, which I don't normally play as, and I drank a potion of mutation and immediately got Spit Poison, Stat Rot, and Evolution. Then I got to a level with both a sewer and an ossuary, all before the Ecumenical Temple.
So I played a minotaur berserker and got killed by some "if magic fails, the sword will not" jerkass. It was fun, though, I tore through whole gaggles of orcs.
Now to go to the opposite end of complexity and try a Felid.

Deep Dorfs are very limited in god selection, as they basically need some way to make up for their lack of innate healing.
I wanted weapon gifts too, was hoping for a vampiric-branded battle axe or something, but the only thing Trog gave me was a sling. :/
