"It is a matter of grave importance that Fairy tales should be respected.... Whosoever alters them to suit his own opinions, whatever they are, is guilty, to our thinking, of an act of presumption, and appropriates to himself what does not belong to him." -- Charles Dickens
I made Michelle Obama's cauliflower mac and cheese today. It was easy and delicious.
On the less-healthy, more health-problems related side, yesterday, I got my heart rate up above 200 on the treadmill. That was probably ill-considered, seeing as my maximum heart rate is supposed to be about 190 (according to the new formula for women). Made me exhausted and weak-feeling for the rest of the day.

I couldn't think of a better thread for this, so...
Other people on the autism spectrum: Do you ever go through periods of being especially sensitive to particular sounds for no apparent reason?

My computer's fan is making the same sound it always does but for some reason it felt like it was drilling an obnoxious whine straight into my head
Thankfully the furnace kicked on and drowned it out for me

i have a headache
usually i take that as a sign that it's time to catch up on long-overdue sleep but i think insomnia has other plans for me
I have very sensitive hearing. Sometimes the sound of the keys clicking when I type sometimes really bothers me, but it's a bit difficult to avoid.
Less frequently, when I have a particularly bad migraine, every little sound and many tactile sensations just make me hysterically angry. My skin crawls and I literally want to climb up a wall and hide somewhere like a frightened cat.
So health heap...wat do? I never feel energetic, even though I usually get adequate sleep. I always feel like I want to go back to bed. I don't think it's depression, though, because I haven't been feeling particularly sad lately.

I got no advice save to try some diet changes. Nothing major, just more b-vitamins (sounds like studies are showing it's actually best to take b-6 and b-12 separately) and also green-tea with fresh lemon is supposed to do good.
What kind of green tea? Do you sweeten it, and how?
The first is less a health question than a tea nerd question. Not a tea snob question, per se, because I'm not super-snooty about it; I'm just genuinely curious and want an excuse to make suggestions.

I have a collection of random bagged teas and loose leaf teas, some are cheap, some are probably the most expensive teas I own.
Numi's Mate Lemon Green is probably one of my favorites though. I usually don't sweent my tea unless it's Chai or Thai (in which case, I usually add sweet and condensed milk if I have it).
If I can't be fussed with anything, I grab the cheap loose leaf Jasmine I have and throw a lemon in.I have a cup that keeps the leaves separate from the water so I can avoid doing this:
I also have a few bags of Genma-cha, which I enjoy.
All that being said, fire away. Friday and I seem to be in some sort of competition with China for tea hording.
So, apparently I take such low dosages of the scary drugs that I am prescribed that I have little to no chance of becoming seriously habituated to them, let alone addicted. This is a great relief to me.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I was planning on showing you guys the pictures of my lunch from today, but that would be in poor taste. My stomach rejected some of it.
I have no clue why, and it kinda ticks me off because it was $10.
My school cafeteria is serving sirloin steak for dinner, but they post the nutrition facts online, which say the steak has trans fat. So on the one hand...sirloin steak, on the other hand...trans fat. To eat it or not to eat it, that is the question...
If you didn't care about what you were eating, you wouldn't have looked it / posted that post in which you're internally debating whether or not to eat it.
You care about what you're eating, do not eat the steak.
Ugh. I already ate it. Oh well, it had only 0.5 grams of trans fat, and it's not like I eat stuff with trans fat every day. But still, maybe I shouldn't have.

srs tho as far as i'm concerned the occasional indulgence in a less-good thing is fine as long as long as your diet is good most of the time.

Though speaking of which, my diet probably hasn't been very good lately. I mean, it's not like I drink pure partially hydrogenated oils, but my ratio of fruits and vegetables to carbs and lipids has nonetheless gone down.
Maybe I'll have more opportunities to rectify that this summer when I'm not stressed over schoolwork.
I ate the steak, but I regretted it. Not only did it have trans-fat, but it was too dry and not filling.
Then I went to an event for my residence hall where they made s'mores. I had too many, probably out of stress, which was probably partially over regretting the steak. #selfdefeating
So...some new fitness accomplishments for me today!
Managed to run 5 kilometers without any walking breaks or rest today on the treadmill. I wasn't running all too fast, mind you...it took me about 28:50 to get through it. But still, I was glad I could do it.
Also managed to bench press 115lbs through a full range of motion today. That's a personal best for 1rm bench press.
