@The art thing: Inconsistency in card art should be expected. I think inconsistency in art assets for big tabletop games should be expected in general. Hell, BattleTech has like three artists working on it right now.
@Tre's article: Jesus, I'm tempted to say that it echoes what Disney does with its pop stars.
Echoes? It's far worse, though Disney is bad enough.
Even their lack of conventional singing ability is held up as an advantage, as fans get to watch them improve through the years. Minami Minegishi, for example, joined the group when she was just 13 years old. This doesn't stop the agencies behind AKB48 playing off sexuality and innuendo, however, with song titles like "My School Uniform Is Getting in the Way."
The girl group dominates the charts to a level never seen in countries like the US today; in 2011 and 2012, all top five positions in the Oricon rankings (Japan's equivalent of the Billboard chart) were occupied by AKB48
This is the worst thing.
Like, i don't normally think like this but there are times when i really hate people.
Japan's music industry resembles some kind of awful capitalist dystopia.
Japan's music industry is a carefully cultivated crop of (deliberately) talentless individuals, who are trained into vague competence, have drama and scandals whipped up about them, and are then discarded by the system that made them famous.
It's really not much of a wonder that Japan has one of the biggest alt music scenes in the world. Why wouldn't you when your alternative is that?
Despite huge success at home, the group is tailored to a specific subculture on the fringes of society, the music is little more than an afterthought, and the appeal is predicated on a narrow, outdated view of women — and frankly, girls — that would simply be unpalatable in the West
No, there's an audience. There's an audience and that fact scares me.
...maybe the chainmail bikini thing is valid when the things they are fighting don't really give two shits about armor, and even a full set of steelplate armor would never help them against it, so they just minimalize it to not only seduce males but to only cover their girly bits from simple things like dirt, falling rocks or debris?

I'm not really complaining about inconsistency in the art though.
I'd take inconsistency over them deciding ALL females should have armor like that...or worse, they approach it like the comic I posted.
I think way back before I was exocommunicated from IJBM2 MadassAlex was talking about different armor roles, like error-control and damage-control, when it came to lightish armor vs. heavier armor. One was intended to protect you if you made the mistake of being hit (plate & scale armor), and one was to protect your more softer parts from wear and tear of the elements (lighter armors).
While the fantasy chainkini armors don't even apply well in the 2nd category, I am of the belief that female barbarians block every hit directed with them with their breasts, and their enemies usually direct their attacks towards their breasts, because from what I understand cobalt, steel and copper tend to be magnetic so of course the weapons would be drawn to the metal-covered parts of the body if they had breasts of steel.
Although the only issue I have with chainkinis is the fact that chainmail thongs exist. DO YOU KNOW HOW FUCKING UNCOMFORTABLE A STRIP OF METAL BEING WEDGED BETWEEN YOUR ASS CHEEKS WOULD BE?
i guess whoever commissions the art could specify that all armour is to be realistic, but i'm guessing this was not a priority.
I actully kind of wonder if the artist was asked to draw the knight that way or given not very good instructions. Also, I think there's alternative art for the card from a different artist, but the knight is wearing the same armor, it could be the artist was trying to do his own take on that for the foil.
I'm bringing this up because I saw quite a bit of the artist's other card art, and that one seems to be showing the most skin on a women by far.
I saw something on Tumblr that said that breastplates with separate...containers for breasts are really, really terrible at protecting the chest. Something about the force of impact being focused on the sternum instead of being directed to the sides.

Just throwing that in there.
I'm guessing it's better then nothing, but this makes sense.
I'll join Viani in weeping over my beloved Captain and her poor choice of armor smiths. T.T
It was written in the typical overemotional tumblr style, but I'm pretty sure that the tumblrite said something to the effect of "if this girl gets hit in her chest, her sternum is going to crack in half like a swizzlestick"

It's actually more like worse than nothing.
I know this is getting a tad pedantic, but if you get it with a sword or spear and you're wearing armor that applies the pressure to your chest, you're probably better off then having your vital organs sliced or stabbed.
Now, if you get hit with a hammer or a mace, then there probably is a good chance the armor will make it worse.
That being said, I'm not really trying to defend the "boob compartment" model as a viable form of protection.
aren't blunt trauma weapons were made specifically to do damage regardless of armor anyway, since they were made with piercing, slashing and stabbing weapon protection in mind?
"It is a matter of grave importance that Fairy tales should be respected.... Whosoever alters them to suit his own opinions, whatever they are, is guilty, to our thinking, of an act of presumption, and appropriates to himself what does not belong to him." -- Charles Dickens

I get that, I was sorta addressing Fouria's concerns on the matter, sort of.

Pretty disturbing, TBH. I know there's a big emphasis on image in showbiz but the stuff seen in that article just seems over the top.
