I first heard it mentioned by a schoolmate in 2003, but there was some debate as to whether the date was in 2012 or 2007. I only heard the firm 2012 date several years later, from my brother, of all people. I think it was around, ironically, 2007.

As for other time weirdness: the variable message sign outside one of the local high schools proudly proclaimed yesterday to be "January 31, 1995". I wanted to take a picture but I couldn't get a decent shot from the moving car and we couldn't stop because we were on our way to a family gathering.
