I wish American children's TV would risk conservative backlash a bit more by including some actual portrayals of homosexual couples. It shouldn't be a taboo thing.
I thought it was cute that Lyra and Bon Bon were shown together on Hearts and Hooves. I don't know whether that was intentional, but Derpy and Doctor Whooves were shown together there as well, so I can believe it might well have been.
I'd rather a show with positive messages not go out of its way to do something just because it ideally should not be controversial. The sort of households that messages like MLP has most desperately needs to reach are exactly the ones with parents that would forbid their kids from watching things that are seen as tolerant of homosexuality.
I'm not expecting MLP to take that stance, anyway. Of course they won't; they have toys to sell.
But if every show aimed at that age group thinks "what if I offend the traditionalists", then at the end of the day there is, presumably, no major television programme aimed at a young demographic that acknowledges homosexuality.
Well that's a given. I'm rather sure that you can't produce any form of media that no fundies would consider liberal propaganda and no feminazis would consider cementing the patriarchy.
The thing is that you don't want to stand out from other cartoons in order to send messages to children that aren't likely to understand them. The age group that MLP is aimed at isn't especially likely to know what homosexuality is, and it'd be distinguishing itself by including gay characters.
Of course, pointing out underlying privilege is totally equivalent to "ban this now, it is of the devil".
In any case, kids that age are old enough to know that people marry and date and such, which is the most I'd expect any show aimed at that demographic to depict of homosexuality. But whatever.
Yes, feminazis. If I was talking about feminists in general, I would have said feminists, and if I meant conservatives in general I would have said conservatives. There's an existence of radical members in these groups that take it to a point where it's just ridiculous, and I figure it's justified to separate them from the mainstream of their respective groups with embarrassing names. There totally are "ban this now, it is of the devil" people who call themselves feminists.
I'm sorry. Nazi comparisons tend to annoy me, when they're not obvious jokes, and I've had enough experience of people dismissing perfectly legitimate feminist theory as extremist nonsense that statements like that tend to set off alarm bells.
But this is a pony thread and this is dumb, and I shouldn't have brought politics into this. My bad.
Pinkie Pie: "I've done far worse than steal your ticket. I've annoyed you, and I wish to go on....annoying you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her. Marooned for all eternity, at the center of a dead bakery. Buried alive."
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I have had desires to post on Ponychan sometimes but I am never sure what to say.
I thought this episode was among the best. It was just very well put together in a lot of ways.
Not sure what you meant by an awkward moral, but I guess it was sort of off that Pinkie's inappropriateness ended up making everything better than it would have if she had decided to respect boundaries from the beginning. On the other hand, that would have made for a depressing ending if it was resolved by Pinkie just learning to accept a sad situation.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat

...is it wrong that I dislike Big Macintosh's new voice?

The moral thing didn't really bother me so much because I kind of looked at it in the same context that I look at, say, the Junie B. Jones books. Yes, Pinkie's behavior went unpunished, but I think even the target audience should be able to recognize that her actions were inappropriate, so you're just kinda free to laugh at Pinkie's antics.
Overall, I enjoyed the episode. It had lots and lots of Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie, and well, I love that. I laughed quite a bit. And hearing "Smile, Smile, Smile" made me, well, smile, because I knew the song existed but I didn't expect it here, even knowing the premise of the episode.

So would I, if I heard one.

Anyone here knows a big, active MLP forum?
It might be just the thing to get my mind out of TVT...
I joined Rainbowdash Network but haven't done much there.
Also me too about the Rainbowdash Network.

I cringed when Pinkie Pie was acting stupid, and thought the moral was kind of awkward.
