Well it's not as if the Doctor only ever had one companion.

So I had the idea for my sister, my mother and I to go to next year's Ohayocon dressed as human versions of Apple Bloom, Applejack, and Big Macintosh respectively.
But I don't think I'm gonna be able to get Mother to go along with it, even if Applejack is her favorite pony.

^^ Ok, that's it, taking you to a con is now officially on my list of things I'm determined to do someday

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Also it seems YouTube has no uploads of the We Heart Ponies Mare-A-Thon bumpers (which, at least the ones aired during "Hearts and Hooves Day", had voiceovers by Ashleigh Ball as Applejack and Rainbow Dash).
Yeah, I don't think Celestia actually is omniscient.
Still, it was clearly modelled on religious rhetoric. (Though of course, FOR THE EMPEROR is also clearly intended to be cultlike, so the comparison is apt.)

I've heard the "Rainbow Dash is a transmare" thing put forth jokingly once or twice.
The thing that bugs me about her supposedly being lesbian is that it's kinda stereotypical--can't a girl be butch and/or like rainbows and still be straight?
I remember a comment pointing out that the Poison Joke takes away from each pony something they deeply value: Twilight, a brilliant sorceress, loses her ability to use magic properly, RD, who prides herself on her flying skill, starts crashing all the time, Rarity's immaculate coiffure is ruined, Fluttershy loses her gentle, calming voice, the hyper-social Pinkie becomes incomprehensible, and the strong manual labourer AJ is rendered weak via shrinking.
They weren't large scale complaints, and I don't know how seriously they were taken, but that episode got taken off iTunes, for whatever reason.
I thought Derpy was just kind of sweet. I think the complaints were probably misplaced, though I can see where they were coming from, but then, I'm not mentally impaired and haven't had to endure bullying over that (it is a children's show, after all) so perhaps I shouldn't judge.
Although I do think it's pretty dumb if that entire episode becomes unavailable because of Derpy, when the following episode contained this and attracted no complaints:

Sooo...episodes where Derpy is maybe a representation of the mentally impaired raises red flags but episodes where Twilight is maybe a representation of people with OCD (which is like...most episodes with Twilight) doesn't get noticed...
Someone said that basically, you can imagine that she was a mechanic of some sort, so Screw Loose was appropriate that way, and then it just took on a different meaning when she went crazy.

Imma' just going to hope it simply involves them being thankful for their friends and family and has nothing to do with giving the native dragons horse-blankets infected with pony-pox.
The thing is the whole "discovery of the new world!" thing is actually what Hearth Warming Eve is about, so I don't know how much room that leaves for Thanksgiving.

Obviously Thanksgiving would be about giving thanks to Celestia for not sending everypony to the moon.
Someone suggested that Celestia's reaction to the "I didn't learn anything!" letter from AJ would be "then maybe you'll learn something ON THE MOOOOOOOOON..."
It bothers me when people try to assign whatever sexualities to the characters and start taking their fanon seriously. I enjoy a good joke about Rainbow being a lesbian as much as the next person, but if they think the creators are risking conservative backlash by seriously trying to telegraph anything about any single character not being heterosexual, they're kidding themselves. (With some possible exceptions involving subtle gags such as background placement of Bon Bon and Lyra.) It also gets absurd when people take it to the point where every ship that they think holds any water is homosexual, that's just not quite sustainable in a multi-generational society.
The writers get credit for not adhering to gender stereotypes, and for the last episode having a message about a mate- or the specific mate people expect you to want- not being vital for happiness. I think that's enough.

Which never made sense to me, for some reason.
Also the fact that Big Macintosh's speaking voice was deeper in "Hearts and Hooves Day" than it used to be bothers me.

I wonder what would have happened to Spike or Apple Bloom, if they'd fallen for it.
^^ They would! But after the complaints about her I think that's gone from "never realistically going to happen" to "not a snowball's hope in hell".
