Friday now has this thing where we end up wearing the same MLP pajama bottoms and insists that one of us has to change.

...It's a good thing I don't have a time machine to go back and explain to 19 year old me, or even 24 year old me that pony pajamas and cross-shipping fan-fiction would be serious business when I was almost 30. I think younger me would pull a Scanners and thus create some sort of ridiculous paradox.

Also one of my readers expressed displeasure that I had used him in a chapter, though that was expressed with far more grace than what I've seen on Derpibooru.

I don't like the idea of Flash Sentry; but that's because I consider the Mane Cast too young for romantic feelings.

-also, as an ace who grasps at straws to find likable ace characters in fiction, my headcanon is that Twilight is an aromantic ace. Please don't take that from me-

I have the same problem with shipping any of the Mane Cast with each other Rarity/Twilight, Rarity/Pinkie-Pie; no, MLPFIM is one of the only shows celebrating platonic relationship and friendships, it's one of the only shows with the message that friendship is amazing and magical and can be life-changing and very meaningful without romance and there's no such thing as "just" friends because friendship isn't limited, it's amazing.

It's basically that and One Piece for the non-obscure, clearly platonic-celebrating, popular shows in most people's know.

You romantic types have almost every single other story out there, all the other shows and characters; but you're not satisfied; you have to make these two about Romance.

I dislike Flash as presented in canon where he's a cardboard cutout angled to the side for maximum one-dimensionality and whose sole purpose in and impact upon life is to make Twilight go weak-kneed for a space alien dreamboat playing a douche-tar.

Fan authors will occasionally write him with appreciably more depth or at least personality, but most of the better ones just avoid using him altogether.

Anyhow, from a literary standpoint, I find it a bit funny that there's anything inherently wrong with Flash, he's basically a well of almost limitless potential, especially the pony version who has maybe three lines in EqGs with the reasonable assumption he's like his earth counterpart.

Most of the males have even less material to work with.

Honestly, people's bigger concern should probably be that Twilight is apparently capable of developing romantic feelings for another species after being one herself for only about a day, if that.

This is not how humans tend to work in my experience, especially shippers. You can't just think "X and Ywould be cute together, I'm going to go watch two unrelated people kiss until the feeling goes away."

No, they want to see or somehow have it established that X and Y do kiss, and no amount of content that's tangentially related is really going to solve that.

Eiichiro Oda of One Piece fame openly declared that there would not be any romance in the series, and instead focuses on the series theme of friendship, stating that romantic scenes would ruin the exciting, party-like mood in the story that appeals to boys or the boyish at heart. One Piece may have some characters who are in love, but Oda's never going to write romance into the story because it would ruin the mood it's established. According to Oda, if you want that kind of thing you should probably read a girl's manga.

Apparently there's god enforced no romance.

Of course, like hell that's going to stop the fans.

Serious Response: Do you mean that when the creators started responding to fan demands and indulged them in things like having Doctor Whooves be the one to operate the timer (and showing Lyra and Bon-Bon sitting next to each other, as acknowledgement of the fanon that said characters are friends)

It's impossible for the fans of anything to wreck anything for me.

I immediately assume anything good will be latched onto the lowest of filth on the internet and I will somehow be made aware of this.

I rather just laugh at it than let such things ruin what is an otherwise very good thing.
