"So what puppet are you going to pick anyway?" "Hmmmm, Let's see, eeny meeny miny YOU"
Knew that was gonna happen. I mean I know you were desperate Dipper, but what did you think was gonna happen?
Also, "Hey wanna hear my impression of you in about 3 seconds? AAAAAAHHHHH!!!". Gideon was fun as far as villains go, but Bill is definitely a step up. If this was airing when I was a kid, I probably would have been scared of Bill.
If I'm thinking of the thing you're thinking of, it hurt way more in Adventure Time--the pain was front and center, the characters involved were main characters, there was a song, etc. With McGucket, it felt more like a plot device than anything. It also had a more optimistic resolution, both in the episode and afterwards.
Finished episode 10. I think that might be my favorite episode so far. I really like how they made Pacifica into more than just the the rich snobby kid who acts as a rival for Mabel. Plus the ending with her and dipper messing up the carpet was great. And the last shot of the last shot of the tapestry behind McGucket is foreboding.
Also this exchange was great: "And that's not just jealousy talking, I'd say that to her face." "I need your help." "You're the worst." *door slam*
Yeah, that episode might have actually been my favorite. I was actually hoping Pacifica would be a regular character after that, but I guess there was no time.
Although my single favorite exchange in Gravity Falls is probably this one from the episode before the three-part finale (with a character who was too cool to get enough screen time, sadly):
"Dipper, my face is on fire!" "Hey, Uncle Ford, are you okay?"
"Oh, yes, I'm fine. I just said that to make sure you'd come in here quickly." "But your face is on fire." "Yes. It's much faster than shaving."
Just finished episode 15. Mabel finally losing her patience and socking the unicorn in the face was awesome. And we finally see how Bill and Ford are tied together. I'm really liking the generation parallels between Ford and Dipper. Any time they're on screen together is great.
Also, new favorite character exchange: "You've protected your family. You're a good person Mabel." "Thanks grunkle Ford, but today I learned that morality is relative." *Stan runs in* "MONEY!" *runs away with half the pile of gold*
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

Just finished this episode. That was pretty great. And all it takes for the apocalypse to happen is a few unguarded words, grabbing the wrong backpack and a little bit of body possession and emotional manipulation for good measure. Kinda fitting, really. I felt really sorry for Mabel this episode. That is a lot of emotional blows all at once. I'm really excited to see how this plays out. I only have all the shorts and then Weirdmaggedon left. The way all the shots were framed with Blendin were great, they created a menacing and creepy atmosphere but it was very subtlety done with the colors and the lighting. I really liked that.
Also, "TV taught me that High School is like some sort of musical". Got a good laugh from that line.
So, I've been watching with my friend after buying the episodes on Itunes.
Am done with the series.
WHY DID YOU NOT WARN ME That the journals get destroyed in the end?
Probabilitor is the greatest thing in the history of things.
Infinipizza should really have gone to the free pizza guy.
I would rather punch myself really hard in the arm than watch The Stanchurian Candidate again (Do NOT attempt to be funny with politics in a children's cartoon. You risk creating satire, which never ends well in a children's cartoon.)
Sevreral Times vs Glass of Water is the greatest scene in the show.
I will forever refer to Toby Determined as Bodacious T.
I did not expect to feel super bad for McGucket.
Bill is absolutely terrifying except in his first appearance, where he's only kinda threatening.
Did Pool Kid ever escape?
The show needed more monster-of-the-week episodes and fewer dipper-and-wendy episodes.
Not what he seems is probably one of my favorite episodes.
I mean, it's Pool Kid who delivers Mermando's Messages in a bottle, so Mermando at least knows of Pool Kid, and Mermando seemed to be a genuinely good-natured person who probably wouldn't leave someone behind to be stuck in the heck that is The Gravity Falls Swimming Pool...
Also, I love the detail that Stan tried to get Soos's birthday removed from all calendars. It's so sweet, so stupid, so grumpy-old-codger-y, it's exactly the sort of thing he would do.
Finished all the shorts. Mabel's guide to life and Fixing it with Soos were great, but I really really liked the Mabel's Scrapbooks and Dipper's guide to the unexplained shorts. They felt like they could have been their own episodes. If not a full episode, they definitely could have been stretched out to the 3 in one format a la Little gift Shop of Horrors. Just Weirdmaggedon left at this point.
"Those death metal album covers got it shockingly right."
Okay, that's just funny. Also, the whole Lil Gideon: Road Warrior segment was great, especially the part with all the madness bubbles. And Wendy punting Gideon like a football brought a smile to my face. Next up is the MabelLand episode!
Those pastel colors are, deliberately, not "right"
I can easily believe that, given what I know about you two.
Anyway Mabeland was exactly what I expected it to be. Bright, colorful, happy and cheerful to an almost mandatory degree. Until you don't go along with what Mabeland wants, then it gets horrifying. And of course, Dipper's temptation is Wendy. And the whole court room scene my favorite part of the episode. Dipper's speech at the end was great and the memories of how Mabel and Dipper cheered each other up on their bad days really brought a smile to my face. And the Post credits scene from this episode was easily another one of my favorite moments from this whole show. Just the finale left now.
Also "What is this new world? Shining, Shimmering, Splendid." I laughed pretty hard at that.
I found Mabelland quite a distressing idea. Not only are you tempted not just by short-term desires and distractions perfectly suited to your psyche, not only do you also have more long-term temptations of power and control, of a changeless world, but you're slightly hypnotized/mind-controleld to go along with it (Mabel only notices the bright colors and annoying music after Mabeland starts to lose its hold on her).
Knowing how much I love to hide in fantasy, and how stubborn I am with my irrational ideas and how much I want control in a changeless world where I am right about everything, it's... really, it's a good thing that other people can help you escape, because I don't think I would have been able to do it on my own.

Also, is it just me or is the humor in general in this season kinda darker than the first season?

Holy shit. Can honestly say I wasn't expecting that. Is it just me or did anyone else feel really really bad for Stan after watching that episode?

Well, that was legitimately disturbing. Leave it to Preston Northwest to be the Kent Brockman of this show.
