This one got more of a reaction out of me than the Ice King episode. Partially because the transformation happened in the course of a single year instead of the Ice King's more gradual transformation. Partially because this happened due to McGucket's own weakness rather than by accident. It's like watching someone drink themselves to death, only instead of death, it's Alzheimer's.
Simon and Marcy kinda tipped the scales towards the Ice King in terms of which memory loss was more tragic, to me. McGucket seemed to be fairly content with his final form, whereas the Ice King always subconsciously feels that something is missing, but he can't quite put his finger on it. That episode shows you just what is missing, and it kinda makes you cry to realize that.
Ah right, counting other episodes. I was doing it more on a one-to-one scale in terms of how much watching them watch that video punched me in the gut.
Ice King didn't punch me so hard, partially because I knew about Simon beforehand, somehow. McGucket punched me hard.
It does help that the Ice King is still in blissful denial after watching his video, whereas McGucket seemed to be genuinely touched by the experience.
I have only seen the first six or so episodes because those are the only ones on DVD yet, and I don't have that channel that airs Gravity Falls and I don't want to break the law.

Watched "Northwest Mansion Mystery".
That was a fun episode.
Spoiler:
For a moment I was worried that Dipper was going to intentionally let the ghost back into the party, but he only did it by accident, so that's better, I guess.

I hope this doesn't ruin Soos and Stan's son-father relationship. I like Soos having a father figure who's not a dozen postcards.
If anything Soos is the father figure now. Or like. The knight figure.
I don't think their relationships can go back to being exactly the way they were before, and I wouldn't want them to--I'm thinking Stan's gonna take Soos more seriously and respect him after he was willing to tackle Stan to save the kids.

To be honest, I had chalked the license plate up to inattentiveness, because it happened early enough in the series that I didn't yet know that the crew would never make a slip-up like that.
So then are we thinking Stanford's brother is named Stanley?
Also I need to dive into /r/gravityfalls sometime because I'm sure they've compiled a detailed list of said hints somewhere. Reddit is great for finding fellow spergs.
/r/gravityfalls is actually pretty barren. Mystery-Shack is the main fansite as far as I can tell, though a good chunk of their members are very young.
As for the license plate, I was thinking that "Stanford Pines" is actually Stanley Pines, and Stanford is his brother's name.

Spoiler:
The news article the twins found only mentioned "Stan Pines", so I suppose either name could go with either one

I'm almost certain that's the case, when you recall...
Spoiler:
Stan took a pair of glasses from the room, and later we saw him holding them and looking sad.

Spoiler:
I like how Stan's over-the-top attachment to the wax statue Mabel made of him was funny before this reveal and crushing now that we know WHY he was like that

I'll leave the thread until I've legally watched all the episodes.
Well, I'll have something to look forward to.
See you in other threads, guys.
