I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I'm finally caught up.
Evenbthough it was funny in parts I generally didn't like "Fight Fighters". More of that dumb romance plot but fortunately if the ending is any indication that's done, at least for now.

General thoughts:
Pacifica Northwest is starting to grate on me. I didn't mind her so much in "Double Dipper", as the generic snooty popular girl is a staple of the '80s teen movies Mabel's subplot was a pastiche of. But she's a pretty one-note character, and it kinda feels weird when the writers seemed careful to avoid bland characters before she came along.
"The Time Traveler's Pig":
What did Pacifica want a pig for anyway? She doesn't seem like the kind who would enjoy, you know, pigs.
I kept wondering why Dipper didn't think to just, you know, not throw the baseball. Couldn't he have drawn Wendy's attention to something else, given the dozens of second chances he had?
The end scene with its allusion to Babewas awesome, though.
"Fight Fighters":
I'm kinda torn on this one. On one hand, the story was built pretty much entirely around the romance arc that seems to have taken over the season. On the other hand, it had so many moments that just made me laugh uncontrollably. The taco scene in particular was hilarious.
I do hope the whole romance aspect fades into the background for a while, though. I would like to think the writers of this show wouldn't just forget that they'd kinda established an arc early on with the mysterious book and Gideon having one of his own, and the fact that Gideon's returning next episode has me hopeful that they didn't.

The hiatus after the Halloween episode was kind of ridiculous...they didn't start airing new ones again till February, resulting in season 1 not wrapping up until this month, well over a year after it began.
I think I may get the DVD for the extras even though it's only like...the first six episodes which is so mid-aughties.
Which is kind of funny, because as little as five or six years ago I would have been happy, HAPPY for release of six episodes on a DVD.
But now it's like "What? That's it? You guys couldn't just give us the first season?! I hope your family gets shot."
Disney sucks when it comes to home video releases of their TV series.
The Disney Afternoon and One Saturday Morning stuff has, for the most part, been gathering dust in the Disney Vault (blame the fact that Toon Disney became ad-supported, then had to nearly morph into Jetix then make way for Disney XD out of necessity)

It's kind of sitcommy, even if not as annoying as the Disney Channel's live-action fare...really, most of the appeal is in the characters and the setting.
This is a cute ship that at least makes some sense to me.

And given it takes Twilight about a day before she apparently develops crushes on people after her human transformation in EqGs, the same species thing doesn't matter a heck of a lot.

I've also just caught up, after starting this show about a week ago.
Jeez, it's got a whole lot of good stuff. Though I don't think anything will ever beat "You really QUACKED the case, duck-tective!" "Don't patronize me."
