I don't doubt that he'll have a Celestia, since, you know, her the interactions between the two are kinda important

But obviously it won't be the same Celestia, or he'll be right back where he started

I wouldn't doubt we might see something analogous to a wink or a nod to his earlier work, but yeah, doubt we'll see any more ,"Whoops! That's your snout in my snatch!" jokes.

  • This made the rounds this morning and now people are complaining about it.

    I

    don't

Heh, I saw that, and I was gonna post it myself.

All the bitching about it just kind of a sad reminder that Tumblr hates anything that doesn't take them 100% seriously all the time.
  • I mean, it's kinda dumb and doesn't make a single funny point that hasn't been made elsewhere but whatever.

If a bunch of fourteen year old/college student SJ bloggers want to complain about it that's fine. Maybe they'll go so far up their own ass the only visible SJ bloggers left will be the good ones.
  • I watched the whole thing.

It's probably because they used the Spongebob Training Music, and I frigging loved that episode.

    Ah yes, "Crepe Suzette"

One of those pieces of music that automatically makes anything 12% funnier
  • I'm fairly certain I've seen this in other internet videos
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
that was arguably less mean than the videos they made about Facebook and Youtube tbh

I mean I agree that saying triggers don't exist or that nonbinary gender doesn't exist is douchey. The video wasn't really good satire, honestly. I didn't like the video. But it's really unimportant. There's no reason to make a big deal of it.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
the video didn't say either of those things, though

i don't know the motivations of whoever made the video, but neither does bakura

i do wish the internet would devote less time to bullying insecure teens, but tumblr's hardly faultless in that regard
  • It was really dismissive though, and not in a funny or subversive way.
  • And to be fair I find the bitching about it a lot more annoying than the video itself.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
It seemed to be making fun of the excess of unnecessary trigger warnings and deadly self-serious self-labelling and diagnosing rather than actual triggers or gender issues. Sure, it was blunt about it and not especially funny, but taking offence at it beyond its being kind of dumb and obnoxious seems to miss the point...

No doubt about that. But there was an air of douchiness to the video.

    yes, it was dismissive

but then, a great deal of what gets posted to tumblr deserves to be dismissed, which is why i wouldn't jump to bad conclusions about whoever made the video

that said they presumably made the video with the intent of causing offence, which is fairly douchey in itself

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^ Oh, no doubt, but I think that's generally part and parcel to that particular brand of quasi-nihilarian humour.

    ^ Good points.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
They made similar videos about other sites that didn't cause a shitstorm, incidentally.

The bits about self-harm were kinda off-putting (since that hits kinda close to home for me right now), but as someone who's used Tumblr for nearly three years, I did find myself sorta nodding along with a lot of the video going "yep, pretty much."

Also I was watching it at like 3 AM while half-asleep, so anything seems funny to me then >_>
  • Basically

absolutely nothing to get worked up about
  • baby vomit

I'm not easily offended by comedians (after all, my absolute favorite at the moment is Louis CK) but there wasn't that much to the video aside from the smug, dismissive tone. If nothing else, it's all stuff that's been said before.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Louis CK is hit and miss for me; at his worst, he's easily more offensive than that video (i would be very surprised if he was popular on tumblr)
  • Louis CK is apparently a comedy god or something, idk.
  • he had this one routine i saw on weed that was pretty funny

    dunno anything else about him
  • I have long concluded that I simply don't get standup.

The only standup comedian I have ever enjoyed in any capacity that wasn't a personal friend of mine was Mitch Hedberg.

most of what i've seen by Louis CK has been fairly amusing, i'll admit

i guess i generally prefer my comedy a little less loud and in-your-face
  • The get for him and comedians similar to him seems to be that it's offensive on purpose and this is supposed to make it funny, which I don't understand.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat

ABC Inc's about to own Cyberchase, you know :P
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Sometimes I rather like things that are offensive on purpose.

i don't necessarily dislike things that are 'offensive'

it does depend on in what respect, though

casual misogyny and homophobia bothers me a lot more than outright shock humour, as a rule

I just watched that  Tumblr video up there.

It was mean spirited and didn't care if it hurt anyone's feelings.

I laughed out loud many times and enjoyed myself.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^ Yeah, that I can definitely sympathise with...
  • The get for him and comedians similar to him seems to be that it's offensive on purpose and this is supposed to make it funny, which I don't understand.

I think it's more about honesty. Louis CK is a very, very honest person in his routines and his show. It may seem simple or easy, but it's not. Honesty is the hardest possible thing to convey.
  • Shock humor has always struck me as lazy. "Look! I know cuss words! Play this to offend your parents!"

so what you're saying is that he's a douche.

It usually is. But not all grotesque or morbid humour is shock humour.

No, not at all. I don't really know how to explain his sense of humor but there's something very compelling in seeing someone convey a comedic persona like he does.
  • No but it is grotesque, which is another thing I don't like.

Basically Mo is an unfun person who hates fun, and you should throw rocks at them.

I've watched a small handful of his routines and I disagree, but I suppose to each their own.

there are few things that irritate me more than the honest opinions of ignorant and meanspirited individuals

i'm not necessarily saying that's what Louis CK is, but a lot of supposed comedy comes off that way to me

and then the fans go 'that's so true' and 'finally, someone has the balls to tell it like it is' and ugh
