You'll have to try for something more recent than that.
Friday LOVES Monster so much, she named one of our cats "Johan".
Nurarihyon no Mago is proving to be rather good. Not setting the world on fire with plot, but the characters are decent and the whole thing looks beautiful.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?
"Ayumu Aikawa is a zombie resurrected by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe after being killed by a serial killer. As he tries to make the best of his undead life, he encounters a Masō-Shōjo (魔装少女?, lit. Magical Garment Girl, a pun on "mahō shōjo", magical girl) named Haruna and inadvertently takes her magic powers, being forced to become a Masō-Shōjo (and thereby crossdress) in the process. With Eucliwood, Haruna, and a vampire ninja named Seraphim living with him, Ayumu helps battle demons known as Megalos while trying to figure out the mystery behind his own death."

For some reason I recalled a bit of Irresponsible Captain Tylor (which I recommend to anyone who hasn't watched it and like comedy and sci-fi) this morning.
At one point the marines on the space ship that Tylor is the captain of give him their most prized possession. A VHS porno tape.
This was possibly a thing that made some degree of sense at the time, but now is kinda creepy. It's the far, far, future, and unless some sort of rules regarding porn have been passed down, the marines should have easy access to all the porn they want, yet hold on to an ancient relic for the pron contained inside to either pass from marine to marine, or worse, watch all together.
It's funny how sci-fi writers will often think to give people space ships, and futuristic firearms, but forget small stuff like media distribution.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Justice: Even in works set closer to modern times, this issue comes up on occasion. I know this isn't an anime, but in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games, it's supposed to be around 2016, but people still use VHS tapes for any and all video recording.
Forgive the off-topic nature of this post. You may now return to your regularly scheduled anime discussion.
The cocktail usually comes in the middle of the issue, with the bartender dispensing a few words of wisdom to go along with the drink. But yes, almost every chapter there is a new drink or variation on a drink introduced. It's fairly well researched too. The only thing that the author didn't get right off the top of my head was the difference between Mezcal and Tequila and it wasn't so much as getting it wrong as getting it half right. But there were some cocktails I had never heard of until I read bartender, such as a Bullshot.
I suppose the series can be a little melodramatic at times, but it's a fun read. It isn't licensed as far as I know, but it's been scanlated up to chapter 73.
Ryuu states that Mezcal and Tequila are virtually the same drink, the only difference being that Tequila is manufactured in Jalisco. This is both true and false. Mezcal and Tequila are both made from Agave, but only a specific type of Agave (Blue Agave) is used in the manufacturing process for Tequila, and while Jalisco is the major producer of Tequila, other regions within Mexico can also manufacture the liquor and be legally recognized as Tequila, that is, certain regions within the states of Guanajuato, Nayarit, Tamaulipas and Michoacan. Any Blue Agave based liquor manufactured outside the sanctioned areas by the Mexican Government, including other countries, cannot be called "Tequila", this is because Mexico holds the exclusive global trading rights to the word "Tequila".

Yeah, they certainly don't really taste the same either. Similar, but Mezcal has a slightly earthier taste and tends to have a little more heat to it as well.

Yeah, and agreed it's a TAD nit picky, though only because Mezcal is stupid hard to get HERE, I'd imagine it's even worse in Japan.
Still, I doubt anyone who has drunk it would agree that it's "virtually the same drink".
It'd sort of like saying the same thing about grain and potato vodka. Sure, they have the same alcohol after taste, but there's definitely some different flavor components going on there.
My palate isn't that great when it comes to liquor. I mean, I can taste the difference between a thing of Bulleit Bourbon and Evan Williams, but I probably couldn't tell the difference between grain and potato vodka. Then again, I don't really like vodka that much.
it's apparently like a feminist masterpiece or something but idk, I just wanna know if it's something I could sit through.
Answering something from IJBM, since I wasn't sure how likely it was that Mojave would see my answer. As for the feminist masterpiece thing, I could see how it has some feminist themes (though maybe unintentionally) and well developed female characters, but I definitely wouldn't call it a masterpiece. Maybe because when I watched it, from the little bit I had heard of the plot, I expected something more like Samurai Champloo set in a South American setting and it really wasn't. It focused more on the travels that the main characters go through than the action (though there is a good bit of action).
The biggest problem I have with it is that it can be rather inconsistent in quality from episode to episode. Some episodes I was entranced and on others I was bored out of my fucking skull. Also, I felt the character development was inconsistent at some points, especially with the character Michiko. It felt like sometimes she would progress as a character and learn to grow up a little and then it would be forgotten by the next episode. However the last 4 episodes were awesome and more than made up for the various faults.
All in all, I'd say it's a good series and worth a watch through, but I definitely wouldn't call it a masterpiece or anything.

Anime that I've really liked include Mobile Suit Gundam, G Gundam, Giant Robo (the Imagawa one), Read or Die OAV,the two Fullmetal Alchemists, Wolf and Spice...
Basically adventures shows that aren't infected with moe cancer.
I've seen the first Fullmetal Alchemist. Watched the whole thing in... three sittings, I think, maybe four? Splendid show. Truly great character writing.
Oh, and to provide some context for the above sensory assault, here's a thingy:

Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead
I remember Young Goku and his granddaughter fighting shadow dragons, and that was pretty good.

I could never focus on Monster.
Did they ever make an anime out of 21st Century Boys? I'd watch that, the only reason I haven't read the manga is that it's so goddamn long.

I didn't recommend Nichijou to anyone.
In fact, I've never seen it.
And they wonder why westerners pirate so often.

So I think, anyway.

Which is why it's the best thought process ever. If more people had it, then stuff like "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer" would be more common~! :D

Saw "Dimension Bomb" (from the Genius Party Beyond collection) the other day.
It blew my mind.
