Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

Not knowing too much about Sonic, I must say that the character who appeals to me the most is Vector. Yes, it's for the reason my username suggests. Apart from that, he seems a little hot-tempered, but not overly much. I like that.
@Imi: Rouge was actually sadly made for Sex Appeal. It was pretty much confirmed in the Wild Canyon song with the exact lyrics "Yeah Rouge, she's sexy and smooth."
Sega would not let that past the radar if it wasn't intended to be her point. She has jiggle physics, where Amy does NOT, and you can zoom in on her miraculous melons. As if they didn't know.
So yeah, she's intended to be that way. Thankfully, she's got more to the character than that. Still more interesting than Amy... before Sonic 2006 finally made Amy cooler.

...you know I wish I knew exactly who composed the music for the Sonic Advance games. I hear shades of the Sonic Rush games' music in some of the music of Sonic Advance 3.
Well, this is what I have so far for those who feel like helping (a VERY loose system - I plan on building off of this guys version of a Sonic TRPG and do some heavy editing to it):
You have 12 points to spend on stats. Each of the four stats must have a minimum of one point. Each stat can have a maximum of five points •Speed: How fast you go •Acceleration: How fast you speed up. Ten would be instant acceleration •Jump: How high you can jump •Power: How strong you are
Over time, you may get up to 20 points in each stat (10?). That would be 80 total (40?). A character starts at level 0 and can reach level 50 (25?). This would allow a maximum of 66 (41?) points (assuming you took no abilities), which allows a maximum of three maxed out stats (all four?). This will take some tweaking, as I want to limit it to 2 maxed out stats if the other stats are below average
You can select up to four abilities. For every ability less you take, you get one extra point to spend on your stats, allowing for a potential stat maximum of 16 between all four stats (which means you could have near max on all stats). This may not be a wise choice, however
•____ Burst (Gives up remaining jumps and glide to do a short, elemental burst in a direction. A free fall is initiated right after. Must have a minimum of four acceleration to use) -Sub styles: --Fire - Burns enemies and does fire type damage. Gives temporary immunity to fire --Electric - Zaps enemies and does electric type damage. Attracts rings nearby --Ice - Freezes enemies and does ice type damage. Creates a slippery platform in your wake (best used in the UP direction) •Amphibious (Can breathe underwater) •Burrow (Can dig into hard ground as easily as any character can dig into soft. Can dig into soft ground twice as fast) •Chaos Spear (Fires a spear of energy. Costs 5 rings per use. Free if you have a Chaos Emerald) •Claws (Fist attacks do twice the damage)
•Defy Gravity (If going fast enough, can go up walls and even across ceilings. Must have a minimum of four speed to use) •Flight (Flies for a short amount of time. You cannot have this ability if you have Gliding. If used underwater, treat as Swimming but with half the time as normal flight. Must have a minimum of four jump to use) •Fury (All stats boosted by one for a short time. Lose control during this. Can only be used once per day) •Gliding (Glides across the sky, descending slowly. Can jump from a glide if jumps are left. Otherwise, glide is merely cancelled. A glide can be triggered again after cancelling an indefinite number of times) •Homing Attack (Can home in on a target, guaranteeing a hit)
•Light Dash (Follows trails of rings) •Multi jump (You get a number of jumps equal to your Jump stat + 1. The first jump is the spin jump. Any after that leave you in a free fall and open to damage) •Power Punch (Can shatter boulders with fists. Must have a minimum of four power to use) •Spin Dash (The classic spin dash attack) •Stealth (Can blend into objects. Costs one ring per second to maintain)
•Swimming (Can swim for a short amount of time. You will automatically sink to the bottom of pools of water without this ability. You can still glide and multijump under water) •Time Stop (Takes two ability slots. Costs a ring for every second time is stopped, with an initial 10 ring cost. No initial cost if you have a Chaos Emerald) •Wall Climbing (Can dig claws into any material and climb up)
Advanced Skills: These skills cannot be taken at the start and often require a prerequisite
•Super Transformation -Requirements: Three skill slots, at least one maxed out stat, Heroic status -Effect: If you are near the seven Chaos Emeralds and have at least 50 rings, you can trigger this ability. While this ability is active, 1 ring will be drained per round. You have infinite flight in a boss fight, and can maintain flight in any other setting provided you are at no less than 15 speed at all times. While this ability is active, all stats double (acceleration will cap at (STAT LIMIT) for accelerating if the doubling brings it over (STAT LIMIT), but will count as doubled for all other calculations). An enemy can only do 1 HP damage for every 10 Power they have while you're in this form. Contact with this form autodamages any non super in contact for 2 HP per round. Your physical body will not change much
•Perfect Transformation -Requirements: Three skill slots, at least one maxed out stat, Villain status. NPC exclusive unless house ruled -Effect: If you are near the seven Chaos Emeralds and have at least 50 rings, you can trigger this ability. While this ability is active, 1 ring will be drained per round. Other effects vary depending on the character. If houseruled onto a player character, keep in mind that this transformation in the games has caused Chaos to mutate into a massive sea serpent creature and Gemerl into a giant robotic orb, so unless the player has a VERY good reason for this, do NOT allow them to have it. The player should have a solid description of their Perfect form (a drawing will help) and abilities that match the appearance

...what are your thoughts on grinding? I have a love-hate relationship with it; it allows for more scenery porn provided the graphics are nice enough, but sometimes it feels kinda gimmicky to me.
Oh god. Pokecapn and his friends in the Sonic Unleashed Let's Play made a joke about the seven Chaos Emerald temples forming the final dungeon and forming a giant fighting robot
It formed a giant fighting robot which doubles as the final dungeon
Dear god it's so cheesy yet if it wasn't for it being UNLEASHED...
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I'm watching that LP too.
Having played the game, this viewing of it is kinda frustrating; I want to shout at pokecapn and tell him to do the right thing. Also, the night levels are more boring to watch than they are to play (they're maligned but I think they're kinda fun), partly because they're slow and partly because pokecapn and the posse complain about them all the while.
Although yeah, I'd like to take a crack at playing them. I have a feeling that I'd do a better job (Mostly because they don't figure out how useful shields are until WAY later. Right from the start I was thinking, "THAT WILL BE USEFUL. PUMP STUFF IN THAT!")
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
When I went through the game I intentionally focused on leveling up Strength, Life, Unleash, and Shield. I went back and leveled up the first two some more when I had trouble with a fight in Arid Sands Night Act 1 that turned out to not even be necessary! (Strangely, pokecapn had little trouble with that fight.)

In Unleashed he can, at least the PS3 and 360 versions. EXP is gained by defeating enemies as either Sonic the Hedgehog or Sonic the Werehog and absorbing the yellow diamonds (EXP) they drop as a result. On the Status screen (which can be accessed from the pause menu and appears at the end of levels), you can switch between leveling up the two forms. Sonic the Hedgehog has two areas, Speed and Ring Energy, while Sonic the Werehog has five, which are Combat, Strength, Life, Unleash, and Shield.
^ It would go slowly. You get more experience in the later levels, as would be expected
But yeah, I'd probably grind like mad as well
Well, I've managed to procure A PERFECTLY LEGAL Tails' Adventure for my Let's Play, along with a PERFECTLY LEGAL way to record Game Gear footage
Now to get a PERFECTLY LEGAL Sonic R working (Apparently the game uses 16 bit. ...Yeah, people recommend a Windows 98 virtual machine to run it x.x), find a PERFECTLY LEGAL Knuckle's Chaotix, get Sonic CD, get (another copy of - I have no idea how I'd hook my Gamecube up for recording) Sonic Adventure DX, and obtain a PERFECTLY LEGAL Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
^ Well, you could grind for rings. You can get hundreds of them in one of the first daytime levels and then use them to buy food, which gives experience
The US would be able to run faster than the speed of light!
I want to see a remake of Sonic R, with each of the characters made more unique so all of them have pros and cons, with updated graphics (of course), and with the remix of Super Sonic Racing from Sonic Generations
I don't care if it was official or fan made. I just want to see it :<

Sonic News Network seems to think that Eggmanland collapsed on itself after Unleashed. I used to think this was kinda silly because the hole leading to the center of the planet isn't that big in comparison to the rest of the place, though the cutscenes during the fights with Dark Gaia's two forms show an orange glow on Eggmanland's continent.

Only ones with wings are Charmy Bee (a bee), Rouge (a bat), and flickies (which have wing arms apparently)
...So the two tailed fox can fly yet the birds can't

I'm just saying it's suspicious, is all
And I am currently gutting it out and redoing abilities and some mechanics, along with splitting Speed into Speed and Acceleration
