Meh, dig deep enough and it becomes apparent that philosophy seems to be a system designed to defeat itself.
To get all Hegelian for a second: philosophy, like basically every body of human knowledge, builds on itself in a conversational way, philosophers responding to each other, disagreeing or synthesizing each others' responses. Taken all together, of course it defeats itself, because there isn't one end product to it, just a number of viewpoints of various refinements which can be applied to various situations.
Did I word that in a way that made any sort of sense? Sorry about that.
But then let me tell you what the other thing I'm writing right now is. Someone gave me a prompt for Rose and Sollux in the genres "clockpunk" and "magical realism", so: Rose Lalonde is Ada Lovelace and Sollux is either a hallucination from opium or a spirit who wants to be her muse and inspire her to develop computers, and after snarking at each other for a while they come to an agreement.

No it makes some degree of sense. Of course individual philosophers and philosophies are built in such a way that they make sense on their own (even if one disagrees with them).
It just amuses me that philosophers also make stuff like Ryle's Regress and Munchenhausen Trilemma. The philosophical equivalent to flipping the Chess board over in the middle of the game and running out of the room laughing to yourself.

This is a really interesting concept and sounds like fun. I don't remember if those two ever interacted in Homestuck.
And I understood what you meant in the other post, but I didn't feel I knew enough about Hegel to agree or disagree. It sounds reasonable.
Yeah, he resolved not to have anything to do with them and he stuck with that until then. I don't even remember if he ever even directly talked to them then. But fic is fun for exploring stuff like that, I think.
Also, I left someone else a prompt to write a story with the Sufferer in the form of a Chick tract.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

I didn't say it was philosophy, I said that it was something okay to pull out when discussing it.
I don't see it as any kind of argument, it's just one of those things that's technically true but unimportant to all but a very few people.
