Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
CA: That makes sense. They're usually hanging a good 10 or 15 feet above you. But at the same time, 12 inches is kind of surprising.
In other news, I'm kind of excited about having my backyard pool "open" and preparing large amounts of iced tea in the near future. I know it's kind of weird, but it's nice to see something out of the ordinary happen this summer.

I have some photos for the mundane photos thread but they're mostly traffic-related stuff so I doubt there's much interest.

Ok then. They're uploading now; I'll post 'em in a couple minutes here.
Dammit, I read the Wikipedia article on display fonts, and now I'm having trouble telling if The Love Boat's logo is in Futura Black or Braggadocio. The Bradlees logo is definitely Braggadocio, though.

Ooh, the TS10 controller (for a three-section G/Y/R) has connections for an optional override switch to put it in flashing red mode. I'm totally adding that switch when I get mine.
So, I got this book. The Timetables of History. It's basically a chronology of human history, pretty detailed, starting from 5000 B.C. and up to 2004 A.D. Politics, literature, art, music, philosophy, daily life, etc. Most of it goes year by year. You can situate any event in its proper context, which is very cool. This is like candy if you're a time junkie like myself. Only one thing bothers me: it feels very lopsided. Everything up to 500 A.D. gets covered in the first 32 pages, while the 20th century alone gets around 200. The physical midpoint of the book is in the 1750s...I suppose that to some extent that's inevitable, since we know a lot more about more recent events. But it still bugs me a little because it's the really remote stuff that interests me most...
What, you mean no updates since 2004? Well, I think that the most recent years aren't really a priority. It's mostly interested in history, not recent events.

That made me lol
I have the best friends.
Yeah this is one of those days where I can totally be into Boards of Canada.
d-w-b
me and my friends movie nighted this a few weeks ago. Great flick, Santo is the greatest
also men without hats is (not lying) my favorite band. I have every album including the new one
I like most of the music I've heard by them.
"Safety Dance" remains a favorite of mine, though.
As for that movie, I have never seen it, but it was the subject of a Cracked article today, and now I really want to.
This reminds me of an unrelated band.
Has anyone here ever heard of The Knife? The only song by them I've ever heard is "Bleeding Heart", but it was soooo good.
does anyone else think that this could be turned into an awesome album cover?
The Campfire Headphase is seriously such a good album you guys.
It's like listening to sunset.
Right now, in Lazuli Land:
let me tell you people bout a story I heard
all about a man who wanted to be a bird
it happened one day when he was walking down the street
he saw a little bird fly out of a tree
so he made up in his mind
that he wanted to fly
tl;dr: no tl;dr for you, you lazy slacker.
