Summer weather is finally here to stay in Candy Valley, it seems.
I hate the summers here. City Hall has already started to melt again, and having the chocolate-workers out here every day to patch it up is a huge drain on the budget. Not to mention that the melting streets are starting to get sticky...Granny Gumdrop keeps calling and complaining because her car gets stuck when she leaves it illegally parked in front of that fireplug.

See, we ticket Granny Gumdrop every time, but she never pays the tickets. We tried towing her car, but...well, the cable snapped and injured 3 bystanders. Apparently licorice isn't rated for towing old ladies' massive station wagons.
Eventually we gave up and just installed a second fire hydrant a few feet away...but then she bought a second car and started parking next to that one too. Now we're not really sure what to do except cross our fingers and hope no buildings catch on fire.

So in between moving-related errands and watching Korra, I got started on my last few assignments of this quarter. It feels good, somehow...this is the first time since 2010 that I'll have completed a full school year, and it's been a damn busy school year, even outside of school, so finally wrapping it up feels like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Add to that the holiday weekend and the fact that I've got a decent lead on a job--albeit a temporary one--and I feel pretty damn good right now. I decided to celebrate by wearing a dress, which I haven't done in a while. Of course I chose the lightest, least substantial one I have, because LOLNOCENTRALAIR, but still.

The Columbus area seems to have two completely unrelated streets called Powell Avenue. So an address given on just "Powell Ave" is in a completely different part of town than address on "N Powell Ave" or "S Powell Ave".
I get that these streets were probably laid out like 200 years ago and this wouldn't have been an issue, but come on.
This is, of course, disregarding the Powell Road that can be found just a bit north of here. PICK A DIFFERENT NAME, DAMMIT

Numerous repetitions of "Main Street" throughout various suburbs
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
For some reason that made me think of the time I tried finding markets in which both NewsEdge and News Matrix were used. I found Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas (NewsEdge was on KDAF, and a version of News Matrix bearing the WFAA logo was used on that station), Sacramento, California (NewsEdge was on KMAX, and News Matrix was on KTXL), and Augusta, Georgia (NewsEdge was on WAGT and News Matrix was briefly on WJBF).

I had the thought of installing a traffic signal above the near end of our driveway (away from the actual street) solely for decorative purposes, but I don't know if there would be legal issues in case it was mistaken for an official traffic control device.

Also, while driving around Whitehall on Thursday, I came across a house where the homeowner had taken it upon himself not only to install a street name blade for his driveway (presumably bearing his family's last name?) but to install a stop sign at the end of his driveway.
This setup was entirely nonsensical--the stop sign faced outwards, which would mean it applies to people turning into the driveway from the street instead of the other way around--which makes me think he somehow thought that was decorative.
