I understand that zombies are played out, which would probably bother me more if I were into horror flicks, I suspect. All the same, though, they work. There's a reason we don't see endless movies about deadly animated washbasins, screw jacks or baffing spoons; they just wouldn't be the same kind of scary. Very few monsters blend intimidation and disgust so effectively as the undead.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Forsythe: The lit-up part of the traffic cone is a lot brighter than I would've expected. But it's still pretty good.
Drawing and painting are not my greatest skills. Partly because my hand-eye coordination is way off of what it should be.

Fun fact: The object that connects a signal head to its span wire is known as a "nipple." One of my coworkers got in a lot of trouble because his emails kept tripping the email spam filters. You guessed it: he was talking about signal nipples. Really, there are plenty of good sexual puns in signal design!
I don't think zombies are intrinsically disturbing, but I do think they have a lot of potential to be so when portrayed effectively, mainly because of the association with death.
My sister's weird. She keeps talking about creepy story this and Silent Hill that yet she's much more easily scared than I and she has a "phobia of zombies".
Y'know what's strange is...in theory, the idea of zombies seems very, very creepy to me. But in practice, I've never seen that creepiness come through in an actual movie or anything.

The idea of a zombie retaining their minds and memories (though I guess that would be more of a ghoul than anything) and being rejected by people they used to love is scarier to me than a zombie in and of itself.

An excellent choice! I personally like Salamander/Life Force and Gradius 2 the best, but the series in general has awesome music.

Thanks! I can never get all those subtle differences about animated corpses straight.
Anyhow, it's bedtime for tonight. See you tomorrow.
It gets better, this thing can emulate a freaking PlayStation perfectly fine with the exception of a few games. I play LSD Dream Emulator on my ePSXe all the time.
Oh, and I once switched the language package (or whatever they're called anymore) to Japanese to play Yume 2kki, I have never been able to change it back. It's stuck for some reason.

Your modern computer can't run NES games? That has to be some kind of software issue...

It's a very stark traffic cone.
I like it.
I've always found lurking, malevolent hatred (The Ring, Japanese version) to be far, far scarier than anything shock value like zombies
You could make a horror move that scares me out of my seat and keep it PG-rated, what's considered "horror" nowadays just seems like shock and schlock
I'M GONNA MAKE A ROADGEEK OUT OF YOU
cybernetic squid thanks
I like them because they're symbols and nothing more, nothing deep about it. Just a traffic cone sitting there being a traffic cone

Silent Hill is completely cued off of Jacob's Ladder though, which was entirely atmospheric
Scariest thing I've ever seen?
Rabbits
David Lynch's web series (parts of which were also worked into one of his movies)
makes no goddamn sense and is all the more terrifying for it.
problem: can't decide what gradius games' music and sound effects to sample
solution: sample all of them
Gradius II is definitely baller
I also love Gradius III, the superior SNES version and not the brutal arcade version
III is the only one I've ever actually played.
Such games are difficult to get one's hands on without emulation that my computer can't support very well.
However! I do have a lot of music from them, and just downloaded IV's soundbank.
You are half right.
SNES? No problem.
But, in what is possibly the least logical thing ever, NES emulators simply don't work on this thing.
lalalalalalalala
People don't believe me when I tell them that Fred Flintsone probably has a better computer than I do.
They really should.

But no NES.
I will try them some time.
Though, I am getting a new laptop at the beginning of next month, so I may just wait.
This thing defies all principles of computer science, I tell you.

the one where you have to install a third party program to change your background.
