That's because AnonymousAvenue.net doesn't exist...yet.

Just heard another Comcast radio ad where appaeent they switched from FiOS because who fucking cares why. God dammit, I have FiOS for a reason, Comcast, and it isn't because I don't like on-demand.
I swear, cable commercials are some of the biggest wells of The Power Of Cheese and Neurosis Commercialis I've ever seen. Most people aren't heatseekers when it comes to cable service, and aren't going to switch providers willy-nilly because the difference in price isn't that big and they don't really care about frills like on-demand.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
lee: Ah, commercial logic. Always good for a laugh, even if it's an annoyed one.
I can't quite decide whether to have the two leftover pizza slices from yesterday's lunch or to use the leftovers from tacos last week.

So, I've been thinking about my next Pokémon blog entry. I want the people who read it to be at least remotely interested, and most of my readers so far have come from here. So what would you like to see me talk about? That might be more interesting than me picking subjects at random.
Also, should I make an Artistic Pursuits thread for this blog instead of just shamelessly advertising it in megathreads? That might work out better.

I'm surprised I got a response so quickly. Thanks, squid!
Though to be perfectly honest, describing the Pokémon fandom seems like kind of a tall order for only my fourth entry. My main concern is that while describing any controversies that I have a definite position on, I'll come across as a pompous jerk.
I did have something else in mind, if that's okay. I was thinking of describing the aesthetics and real-life counterparts of the different regions (including some of the ones from the side games), and then picking out which ones I think would be nice places to live if they existed. Does this seem too weird for a mini-series of posts, or does it sound like something that might be interesting?

I'm reading the comments on an NYT article about the rise of student loan debt, and they're actually not resplendently horrible like most Internet comments are. I've seen maybe two trying to blame the whole situation on Bush or Obama rather than discussing the topic intelligently. Amazing.
As for the topic itself....I do see a bubble there, and if it's anything like the 2008 financial crisis, you know people are embezzling money like mad. I would not be surprised if the for-profit, hole-in-the-wall colleges that live primarily on easy Direct Loan and G.I. Bill money are the first to go. :P
And now there's some Texan jerk spamming a screed about "socialists" and "liberals" because OMG Direct Loans. :P
Free advice: If the US were truly socialist, we wouldn't be loaning people the money, we'd be handing it out, no strings attached. This is a gift to the banking industry, not socialism.
And so far, all of the really awful, "HAHA THIS IS ALL OBAMA'S FAULT" comments have been from Texans. Gee, I guess you're still butthurt that your boy Dubya couldn't have a third term, huh? tumut
Oh yeah, and the liberal-arts bashing has started. Becaue God knows people that can't be scientists or engineers aren;t worth shit. Fuck you too. more tumut

Oh jeez. I like studying the sciences, and I think I want to work in them as a career. I still hate it when people say that everything besides science and math is useless. It really isn't, and I wouldn't want to say anything to that effect.
And stuff like that is why I never want to read the comments of an online news article again. I actually read them on an article that was linked to me once. This was not the best decision I've ever made. "People trying to blame it on (insert president you disagree with here) instead of discussing the topic civilly and intelligently" is the perfect way to describe it.
Indeed. There's several non-science things I'm interested in that, if I'd ever gone to school for them, I'd probably have gotten laughed at as well, since God knows no one can get a job doing graphic design or animation. :P
I think the common notion is that all liberal arts school teach are the dreamier parts of humanities and social studies, stuff that dopeheads would stereotypically like, stuff that might get you a teaching job at best. If you're doing one of the visual arts, music or law (the "harder" humanities), then your chances of getting a job are much better, but the stigma is still there, it seems. (Music also has more math involved than you'd think; my first girlfriend found that out the hard way.)
Still, though, this comment section is relatively tame...only a few comments have been this bad. On a really bad site like YouTube, every comment is this stupid, if it isn't just spam.

Argentina has never fought England
We've produced a few good ones, though.
