Odmydon: that analysis gets more bizarre and disturbing the more I think about it. It undermines itself in this really weird way: it's a reading where consumers are the ones being oppressed, but it relies on imperialism to make this point, which is stupid because it goes so far out of its way to ignore the "noble savage" problems in the movie it's more imperialistic itself.
Although I find the basic idea "Pandora=digital media" kind of interesting, if it wasn't taken in that direction. For one, there's all the CG, obviously. But also, given that the planet is a giant...fiber optic...thing, it is digital media. So: the Na'vi are cloudware elementals.
"Moses received the Torah from Sinai and transmitted it Joshua. Joshua transmitted it to the Elders, the Elders to the Prophets, and the Prophets transmitted it to the Men of the Great Assembly. They [the Men of the Great Assembly] said three things: Be deliberate in judgment, raise many students, and make a protective fence for the Torah."
Chap-hop is a variety of music originating from England that mixes the hip hop genre with elements from the steampunk subculture and stereotypical English obsessions such as cricket, tea and the weather. Two leading exponents of the genre are Professor Elemental and Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer.

Some of the CG isn't great, but that's true of almost any movie. The sets still look REALLY good for the most part, and every now again the CG is just phenomenal.
Also, I guess the "Goodwin's Law" is actually based on/inspired by a proper fallacy.
American conservative radio host Glenn Beck is often criticized for his frequent use of reductio ad Hitlerum, including a controversial statement comparing the victims of the 2011 Norway attacksto members of the Hitler Youth.

"Another American right-wing radio host, Rush Limbaugh, coined the word Feminazi in an attempt to associate Feminism with Nazism.Similar to Mr. Limbaugh's comparison, Seinfeld attacks the credibility of soup distributors with the character of The Soup Nazi."
These other examples seem inappropriate. "Nazi" in each case is just synonymous with "being a jerk face", people aren't REALLY comparing people to Nazis.
It's not like anyone uses "Grammar Nazi" to suggest the target of the label gasses Jews in their spare time.

Really? Because the way I hear "Feminazi" used it usually comes off that way (and generally seems to actually mean "is a feminist and is disapproving of my overt sexism").
If the intent is not to suggest that feminism and Nazism are in some way comparable, and is only meant to say "You're being a jerk," I wish people would find a less charged sounding way of doing so, because that's not how it ever came across to me at all.

I'm bored.
I never did take those pictures of the pedestrian signals, but I've wasted enough gas already this weekend...
Gah, I hate how catty the philosophical blogosphere is sometimes.
"Hey, get this, philosopher X is, and I'm not making this up, defending his position. On his blog no less. Against a, get this, misreading The man's an absolute putz."
"Hmmm? No, it's an actual misreading. Yes, he's actually made his position on the subject very clear multiple times. But still. Can you believe how he has the nerve to claim he's being misread when he says Y and somebody else says he says Z? Oh my, his antics certainly are amusing."

You know, up until like a week ago I had just assumed that Andrews McMeel Universal was owned by NBCUniversal.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
The idea of NBCU dabbling in print at all is bizarre to me. They always struck me as a more "modern" version of Time Warner; fuck the page, it's all about the screen (also theme parks).

Also I associate AMU with Calvin and Hobbes.
You know, I was so disappointed when I found out that at least one of the strips in The Complete Calvin and Hobbes had altered dialogue.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Wow! I like the typewriter raft and the "Cloud Cutter" ad best. I also like the Mario shirt, but mostly because I'm into Nintendo games.

The Plumber one also got turned into a shirt. Shirt.Woot! seems to be some sort of crazy voting battle ground for artists to compete with their shirts. I noticed video game designs tend to go over pretty well.
The "One does not simply Jaywalk into Mordor" also got turned into a shirt, I think.
