@Clocky: I had gone to bed by the time you sent that, and by the time I saw it this afternoon I was feeling better.
...I suppose I probably still should have responded, though.
^ Wow, I haven't read that in a while. Sentimental value indeed.

Well I'll be sure to respond next time, even if only to say "whoops, didn't see this 'cause I was in bed!"
Oh, interesting, there's actually two different kinds of Synaptol (that snake-oil ADHD remedy that's been advertising on TVT recently). One is an older herbal nostrum, the current one is homeopathic. Neither of them will do much more than placebo. Also, apparently, one of both of them have been claiming to "cure" ADHD at various times, something that is impossible.

^ Me too.
I talked to Madrugada about it once, and I was told that blocking the ads didn't make a difference if I never clicked on them anyway (which I didn't).

Apparently it's a "bad neighborhood" or something. I dunno.
Though mainly I think she'd object to my driving to the South Side to try to photograph a grocery store with my phone.

Also I like the name "Charlottesville". But really I just like the name "Charlotte" in general, and you already knew that.

...somehow I missed that entirely. I was too busy looking at the weird sign.
The thing about Virginia is that it's a lot like California. In CA, you have the Southland (LA/SD/IE), the Bay Area, and Everything Else. In VA, you have the DC suburbs, Hampton Roads, and Everything Else. And both states have large, fertile valleys in their Everything Elses.
And just like CA's Central Valley, there really is fuck all to do there. When I was in Salem in 2004, the Walmart was the cool weekend hang-out, apparently. Same thing when we went to South Hill a few weeks ago.
Anonus: I can actually answer that! "The Grocery Store" was a premium grocery store concept that Farm Fresh out of Hampton Roads was trying out for a while in the 1990s. From what little I remember of it now, it was kind of like a Harris Teeter or a Bloom, but not quite as fancy as Wegmans; I never went in one, just saw commercials for it on Richmond TV, so I don't know for sure.

"Hey Alice, on the way home...can we stop at The Grocery Store?"
Yeah, the commercials emphasized theThe. I don't think it worked all that well. :)
Anonus: A failed attempt at cutesy post-modernism? I don't know. That part of VA is all kinds of weird. And in Richmond, I'm sure they had an uphill battle against Ukrop's anyway.
The music in the launch commericials was either an instrumental cover or ripoff of "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter. And they went through the store and pointed out where all the deparments were, like the flower shop and the fishmonger (things a small Richfood-ish supermarket in Central Virginia wouldn't have had at the time).

I'm reminded of the pizza place in Parkersburg, WV that's called "The Pizza Place".
...I kinda wonder what genius decided the best way to develop a brand was to use the most untrademarkably generic name possible.
Anonus: Heh, the memes are mating! [would put a LOL here but Vanilla doesn't have smileys, it seems]
There was one of those small Richfood markets in Palmyra, just down US 15 from my house. We only went there if we had to, since they were expensive; Food Lion was cheap enough that it was worth the 25-mile drive to Charlottesville. And they did have flowers, but only the racks of potted ones you see at places like Walmart's garden center.

There was this article I read about women who have a lot of sons, apparently, for every son they have, their body builds up an immunity to it. So that every son from then on gets less masculine over time.

@Clocky: I have a younger brother and a younger sister.
@AU: It's a bit of a Jammies in-joke. Inane242 usually bumps the thread when he gets on in the morning, and eventually he started posting just "*Naneybump*" when he does it.

It's just random conversation.
The main participants lately are Inane, Deathonabun, Megamagikarp, Zersk, and Meophist. Oh, and me, I guess.
...There's a lot less flirting in it than there used to be.

Much better than last night, that's for sure.
Why not?
...I just re-read the "no one's ever called me their friend" exchange.

(Though I'm sure my mother would throw a fit about me hanging around Parsons Avenue)
Though mainly I think she'd object to my driving to the South Side to try to photograph a grocery store with my phone.
...Why are so many of the retail and grocery store photos on Flickr from Virginia, anyways?
^ You know what I mean.

"Sure, Bob. Which one?"
"The Grocery Store."
"Right, which grocery store?"
"The Grocery Store."
"But what's it called?"
"The Grocery Store."
"Why do I let you carpool with me, again?"
