I haven't been in a Big Lots since...actually, since the one in Newnan, Georgia back in July.

My family has gone shopping much more often this past couple weeks. I don't know why.

Quite a bit, actually.
Usually when my mother wants to go somewhere she'll have me drive, if only so I can get some practice.

Who knows, you might. A year ago I had no desire to learn to drive and here I am now trying to pass my driving test.
Speaking of which, I'm scheduled to re-take it on the 23rd. I only have to re-take the portion I failed, so I'm optimistic.

If you're like me, you'll probably want to start with something small.

Anonus, I used to love that movie's opening sequence when I was little.
I had only ever heard that song in remixes so it was not until you said that that I figured out it was actually Space Jam's theme. Yep, I guess that is pretty dumb.
Have you ever been to a BJ's wholesale store? I think those make Big Lots look tiny and the stores are basically warehouses where you can buy tons of stuff in bulk.

I know. I get that same feeling sometimes, when you just want to go somewhere but you cannot

CA: There was a Roses in Charlottesville at Pantops (in fact, I think it may still be there), and Mom used to buy pretty much all of our clothes and such there. I miss it occasionally.
They also had Fujitsu ICL cash registers, which I thought were cool at the time because they weren't the late-1980s IBM 4680s everyone else seemed to use.

The Roses in Whitehall just opened a few weeks ago. It occupies about half of a former Big Bear Plus store.
It's interesting, because I have a vague memory of shopping at the Big Bear Plus with my mother and grandmother when I was like 5, but now the only hint inside that it was ever a Big Bear is that big stupid section of lights above where the checkouts would originally have been.

CA: I remember when they converted the old Sears in the eastern part of Huntington to a Harts/Big Bear in the 1980s, after Sears moved to Barboursville. I don't think my grandparents ever went there; they frequented Tradewell and Kroger and Kmart, for things they couldn't just get ship-to-store on from Sears, anyway. (And not the big new Kroger right there in Barboursville, the one further down US 60 near WV 10-ALT, next to the Kmart.)
I don't think I've been to any mall in, like, ages. Okay, I went to Pentagon City a while ago to tell VZW that my brother's phone was boned, but that's about it.
And I really wonder if CA will get my West Virginia refs, since Huntington is relatively close to Columbus.

You know what I've always found kind of interesting to see? When a store like Roses or Big Lots or something have carts that are obviously used.
There's an Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Westerville that has old Wal-Mart carts. They made absolutely no attempt to cover or remove the Wal-Mart logos all over them.
^ Not really. I haven't been to West Virginia since 2007.
CA: Ah. I still remember a lot about it because we went there every year, at least once, until Mom kicked Dad out in 1991. After that, I didn't go back until 1997 and the first thing me and my brother Jim noticed was how clean everything was -- all the coal dust was gone.
Also, the old, locally-owned B&B Super Market in the same general area (near the Huntington Civic Center) was gone in 1997, replaced by a Cub Foods that I think is gone now itself. My grandparents used to go to B&B all the time, and I know I enjoyed going there because, y'know, road trip. :D It was a good ways from their house in Barboursville.

I went to Roses today, though.
Also, I drove today. On US 40!

They're still there, just not as often.
I wanted to reply to this with "I believe you mean 'fairpony enough'."

Also AU, go ahead; I like it when you ramble.
1965.
^ Is it still open?
Season 2 is soon?
Really?
The writers were actually pretty hesistant about that, given who I'm supposed to be marketed towards.
don't worry though, I'm still up to my usual antics.
This was the same day IJBM had a thread that experienced a "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell" derail.
